Jeep CEO Confirms 2025 Jeep Gladiator 4xe
It feels like there is no stopping Jeep® these days. The off-road automaker outdid itself when it first released the Wrangler-inspired Jeep Gladiator pickup truck, and then continued to show how customizable this pickup truck can be. Offering all the same options as the Wrangler, the Gladiator can delete doors, get half doors, and choose from many tops. Jeep released the Tuscadero paint color for the 2024 Jeep Wrangler, and after much acclaim from fans, Jeep added Tuscadero to the Gladiator. Once again, Jeep is listening to its fans, and years after the Jeep Wrangler 4xe was announced, the next model to get the electrified treatment is the pickup truck. We should be getting a Jeep Gladiator 4xe sometime next year (2025).

With how much inspiration the Jeep Gladiator takes from the Jeep Wrangler, it should be safe to assume the electrified version will be also pretty similar. After all, the Gladiator is just a Wrangler SUV with a truck bed added to the rear. This also put Jeep in the perfect niche of the auto industry, introducing a new midsize pickup truck. We haven’t seen one of those since the Dodge Dakota, back when Ram Truck was still a part of Dodge, forming Dodge Ram. After it left, the auto market had a large hole, and so far, the Gladiator is the only model competing for the midsize pickup truck segment. Ram Truck is currently sticking to light-duty full-size pickup trucks, but rumors about the midsize Ram 1200 still surface every now and then.
Back to the Jeep Gladiator 4xe, the current Jeep Wrangler is powered by a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine able to generate 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. If you guessed the Jeep Gladiator is also powered by the same engine, you’d be right. So, it just makes sense that if the powertrain for the Wrangler 4xe is a 2.0-liter Inline-4 DOHC DI Turbo PHEV engine, comprised of a 2.0-liter I4 DOHC engine and electric motor powered by a 400V lithium-ion battery pack, then the same could be said for the upcoming Gladiator 4xe. Able to generate an output of 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque, it’s not that bad.
We also know off-road capability isn’t hurt by electrifying a vehicle. If anything, the added torque makes for better rock crawling. The Wrangler 4xe still comes with a 2:72:1 Selec-Trac® full-time 4WD system standard, plus a Rock-Trac® heavy-duty full-time 4WD system on the Rubicon and Rubicon X trims. The Gladiator is just as capable as the Wrangler when it comes to off-road adventure, so we can expect the Gladiator 4xe to do the same, plus a truck bed for carrying camping equipment or whatever your lifestyle calls for.
