Free2move Delivers e-ABC Promise to Keep BEV Consumers Charged Up Anywhere

While the auto industry charges forth with electrifying the auto industry, there is still the hurdle of getting consumers in the door and calming woes and worries about charging up. It’s true, charging stations aren’t as common as gas stations. Even with bills being introduced to change city infrastructure and put battery-electric vehicle (BEV) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) charging stations along the highway, it’s still a long ways away. This makes BEVs and PHEVs seem a little unpractical, but many automakers are joining the cause to change this. Free2move, a brand of the automobile group Stellantis, just launched a 360-degree ecosystem to deliver charging and energy management to address all BEV customer needs.
“As the pace of mainstream EV adoption accelerates, our customers need us to be more than just a mobility provider…We are taking the lead in establishing a dedicated business unit that will support our bold electrification strategy and act as a natural extension of our iconic brands. Free2move Charge is the first product rolling out, exemplifying our purpose of delivering performance, value, sustainability and electrified mobility freedom for all.” – Ricardo Stamatti, senior vice president, Stellantis Charging & Energy Business Unit
Called the “e-ABC Promise”, Free2move claims this new ecosystem will make it easy for consumers to always be charged up and ready to go. By making charging up reliable and easy-to-access, consumers will also be able to create a personalized package that meets their needs and can be customized or changed any time. Surprisingly, this is being launched in North America first, and will then expand to Europe, but support for these services will first be available in Europe; probably because our neighbors to the east are more ready to get behind the wheel of an electric vehicle.
Built on three pillars – Charge Home, Charge Business, and Charge GO – Free2move will be making it easy for consumers everywhere and anywhere to keep charged up. Starting with Free2move Charge Home, just like many consumers do today, this pillar is responsible for delivering consumer support with installation, financing, and warranty of home charging, amongst other hardware and services that go into optimizing charging at home. Options for installation range from AC charging cables and wall boxes to Vehicle-2-Home, Vehicle-2-Grid, and complete energy management systems. Wireless/remote control and even robot charging may become available as well.
Free2move Charge Business will make it easy to provide a one-stop-shop platform with a full suite of charging and energy services not just at home. This is more so about the changing of city infrastructure to install, maintain, and provide public charging access while on-the-go. Likewise, Free2move Charge GO guarantees access to the largest possible curated network of public charging points across North America and Europe to provide BEV consumers with the ability to charging stations wherever they may be. In addition, the Charge Go will launch additional features to help consumers stay charged, such as Plug and Charge, reservations, loyalty programs, subscriptions, prepaid packages, single invoice/billing, and bringing a charge to the consumer, like AAA fixing a tire or replacing a battery.
Via the Stellantis Energy Cloud, Free2move will also make it easy for consumers to use vehicle-branded mobile apps and the state-of-the-art STLA SmartCockpit platform to deliver fast, intelligent routes, and charging recommendations to consumers (launching in 2024). Via the use of artificial intelligence (AI), the platform will not only provide consumers with options based on their actual usage and needs, it will also make the charging experience more convenient as it updates its knowledge of available charging stations. The STLA SmartCockpit, powered by Amazon, also provides consumers with the ability to personalize their charging experience based on their needs.
