Dodge Announces Limited Edition 2020 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody Daytona

September 2nd, 2019 by

We said Dodge is going to keep offering amazing options for what looks like might be its last model year (2020) of true high-performance vehicles. That’s right, after 2020, Dodge is going to be introducing electric batteries and alternative fuel vehicles to its lineup. Sadly, the range of engines running from a 3.6-liter V6 to a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 will be no more. To help with that blow, Dodge refreshed the Dodge Challenger and Dodge Charger for the 2019 model year, and in 2020, the Dodge Charger is feeling the waves of the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye.

Sound familiar? The 2019 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye is the Demon we Deserve. Back in 2018, Dodge released the world’s first factory-produced vehicle able to pop a wheelie on launch, built with Torque Reserve and modified with an engine able to generate 840 horsepower. It was not as wildly popular as expected. Dodge learned from their mistakes and dialed things down a bit. The 2019 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye is still powered by a 6.2-litre HEMI V8 engine but is able to generate 797 horsepower and 707 lb-ft of torque. Equipped with launch control, launch assist, line lock, and SRT drive modes, it’s truly one of the the last high-performance vehicles from Dodge. These features also found their way onto the 2019 Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack.

One of the favorite aspects that carried over from the SRT Demon is the Widebody package. At a cost of $6,000, consumers can add on flared fenders, 20-by-11-inch Devil’s Rim forged aluminum wheels, all-season performance tires, an upgraded suspension, a blacked-out rear lip spoiler, and a scalloped hood to their 2019 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat or SRT Hellcat Redeye. They can even up the ante with Pirelli P Zero summer tires are available for extra grip. The Widebody package also found its way onto the R/T Scat Pack, and the 2019 Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack Widebody looks sick!

Almost as sick as the 2020 Dodge Charger Widebody. That’s right, it’s official. The Dodge Charger is also getting a Widebody appearance package (or a trim with the package already equipped), for the 2020 model year. Just when we thought things couldn’t get any better, Dodge surprises us one more time. Another groovy gift for the Dodge Charger and a blast from the past, it’s the Dodge Charger Daytona, baby!

Remember this? Dodge brought back the Dodge Challenger T/A and Dodge Charger Daytona trims for the 2017 and 2018 model year and then they vanished! Brought back as limited editions, the Challenger T/A and Charger Daytona were bought up by collectors quickly. For those that missed the rush, here’s your second chance. Dodge is releasing a truly limited edition of the Dodge Charger Daytona with a Widebody.

Yeah, crazy. Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the launch of the 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona, Dodge will release a limited edition 2020 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody Daytona 50th Anniversary Edition, with only 501 units being produced. How outrageous. Why 501 units? This is being done to mirror the number of the original 1969 Charger Daytona cars that were made, and because that was the minimum number required to qualify the vehicle for use on the NASCAR circuit back when Dodge was racing.

The new limited-edition Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody Daytona trims will be powered by the 6.2L HEMI Hellcat V8 engine, able to generate the same 717 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque of the 2019 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat. Each unit will come with the signature “Daytona” rear decklid graphics and a rear quarter decal lining up with the decklid. The 2020 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody Daytona will be offered in four exterior colors – Pitch Black, Triple Nickel, and White Knuckle – including one color exclusive to the model, B5. As per usual, each unit will have a dash plaque with its production number out of the 501 unit run.

This is your last chance, muscle car enthusiasts. Get the hottest Dodge Charger that might ever be made. Seriously, 2020 marks the coup de grâce of high-performance vehicles.
