Is summer here yet? The weather is getting hotter by the day, but a cold front or two might prolong it a little more, and then boom. Summer heat. As the year goes by, more publications and automotive journalists will also get a move on with competitions and annual events. The Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA) just wrapped up their spring 2024 Texas Auto Roundup. Making a strong appearance for Stellantis and its electric vehicle future, the 2024 Chrysler Pacifica Plug-in Hybrid won Minivan of Texas for an eighth consecutive year.

“Chrysler Pacifica continues its streak of top honors at the TAWA Auto Roundup, earning the Minivan of Texas award for the eighth consecutive year…The 2024 Chrysler Pacifica Plug-in Hybrid Pinnacle was recognized by our members as the ultimate family-friendly vehicle based on its capability, comfort and luxurious interior.” – Cory Fourniquet, TAWA President

In case the Texas Auto Writers Association is a foreign name, it’s been in business for almost 40 years, founded in 1987. Hosting two events every year, the Texas Auto Roundup and Texas Truck Rodeo, Stellantis vehicles have won these titles in the past. During the 2023 TAWA Texas Truck Rodeo in the fall, the Ram and Jeep both won awards. A total of nine, the 2023 Ram 1500, 2023 Ram 1500 TRX, 2023 Ram 1500 Limited, 2023 Ram Heavy Duty (HD) Rebel, 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee, 2024 Jeep Wrangler, and 2024 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 took home awards. The Chrysler Pacifica Minivan always shows up TAWA Auto Roundup in the spring, year-after-year.

The Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid minivan is the first step into a more electrified lineup for Stellantis (then Fiat Chrysler Automobiles; FCA). Now called the Chrysler Pacifica Plug-in Hybrid, it’s a little more clear that this minivan wasn’t just a regular hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) with a small electric motor. The Chrysler Pacifica Plug-in Hybrid actually has a large enough battery to power the vehicle before needing to use the gas. This means the plug-in hybrid minivan can also be recharged if trying to go green all the time with an all-electric range of 32 miles. A total range of 520 miles, the Chrysler Plug-in Hybrid can go further than most minivans, and for those who own a home, get a level 2 charger installation to charge up their Chrysler Pacifica Plug-in Hybrid overnight with ease.

A part of the new Stellantis Dare Forward 2030 business plan, Chrysler will expanding its battery-electric vehicle (BEV) portfolio with the upcoming Chrysler Halcyon concept. After years of riding on the coattails of the Pacifica minivan, the automaker finally takes a step towards a more electrified lineup. There is a hint at that reconstruction of the Chelsea Proving Grounds into an autonomous car testing field might have finally paid off. Claiming that the Halcyon concept is “fully autonomous with unlimited range” is not something to joke about.

Until then, consumers can find out why all the buzz about the Chrysler Pacifica Plug-in Hybrid minivan when they look for a new Chrysler at Aventura Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram.
