2022 Jeep Compass Gets New Looks and Features

August 11th, 2021 by

The 2022 Jeep Compass is slowly starting to steal the show. Not too long ago it was all about the new Jeep 4xe series, with all the talk focused on the Jeep Wrangler 4xe, seeing as how we’re not getting the Jeep Compass 4xe or the Jeep Renegade 4xe here in the states. Hmph, like we wanted those models anyways, right? The Jeep Wrangler is where it’s at. Now to be a little hypocritical and talk about the new Jeep Compass, rolling out at the 2021 Chicago Auto Show with a new look, and stealing the attention away from the 4xe models and putting the spotlight back on gasoline-powertrains with a tease of autonomous features and an all-new look. What is new about the 2022 Jeep Compass?

Entering 2022 with a new look, the Jeep Compass has changed up appearances inside and out, starting with a resculpted front fascia featuring a new seven-slot grille design with high gloss black accents, slimmer LED headlights, and a larger lower grille. The seven-slot grille is a signature look of Jeep models, and in recent years, that has been a variety of thin slotted grilles and wide slotted, with the Compass taking the larger look – the new larger lower grille should also help with engine cooling. If looking for more upscale features, higher trim levels are said to come with LED projector headlights, LED fog lights, and new LED taillamps.

“Sophisticated and well equipped, the Compass stays true to its benchmark 4×4 capability and on-road dynamics, but with even more refinement and precision…It also boasts a host of new attributes and innovative technologies designed to keep consumers connected and make their lives easier.” – Jim Morrison, Vice President, Jeep Brand North America

Inside, an updated interior is highlighted with a new instrument panel and a more horizontal design of the dashboard to make things feel a little refined, not all clustered up in the center column. If anything, check out the picture below. Does that look slick or what? It looks like the larger 10.1-inch high-definition touchscreen, standard on the Trailhawk, Limited, and Latitude Lux trims. Standard on the rest of the lineup is an 8.4-inch infotainment touchscreen with Uconnect 5 with wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, and Bluetooth. For consumers that want it all, the 2022 Jeep Compass Latitude Lux adds leather upholstery, the 10.1-inch touchscreen, and all-wheel-drive as standard features to make the Compass not only upscale but capable.

The powertrain is still tied to one setup, a 2.4-liter Tigershark four-cylinder engine able to generate 177 horsepower and 172 lb-ft. of torque, with front-wheel drive (FWD) and a six-speed automatic transmission as the standard. For consumers who decide to go for 4×4 variants, they’ll get a nine-speed automatic transmission with two available Jeep 4×4 systems: Active Drive and Jeep Active Drive Low. You can read about these 4×4 systems and others in our review of the different 4×4 systems available by Jeep.

In addition to some of the safety features already standard on the Jeep Compass, 2022 adds a Pedestrian/Cyclist with Automatic Emergency Braking system to match the already equipped advanced brake assist and forward-collision warning systems. For added safety on the road, the 2022 Jeep Compass Limited, Trailhawk, and High Altitude trims come with adaptive cruise control with stop & go and an available parallel and perpendicular park assist system like the one found on the Chrysler Pacifica minivan.

Heading to dealerships soon, the 2022 Jeep Compass has a starting MSRP of $26,490 (plus destination fee) for the Compass Sport with FWD and $27,990 (plus destination fee) for a 4×4 drivetrain. Look for your 2022 Jeep Compass at Aventura Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram.
