2021 Ram 1500 TRX Wins Rocky Mountain Automotive Press “Truck of the Year”
Since the release of the Ram 1500 TRX, truck competitions have more or less come to a halt. Why? When you got a truck like the TRX in the industry, why even bother? This is the end-all of trucks, waited on for years before its release, and was so popular, the very first unit was auctioned off for $410,000. One lucky (and possibly rich) driver got to go home with the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX Launch Edition VIN 001. All Launch Editions have already been sold, but the truck has finally gone into production, and that means it will soon be available to the masses, which makes it eligible for award shows. Wouldn’t you know, it’s just in time for the Rocky Mountain Automotive Press (RMAP) “Truck of the Year” awards.
No need for the suspense, the new 2021 Ram 1500 TRX won the title of “Truck of the Year” from RMAP without fail. Last year, it was the 2020 Jeep Gladiator, winning over the 14th annual Rocky Mountain Vehicle of the Year awards. The competition is held every year to all-new or significantly revised trucks for the current model year, tested and reviewed by RMAP members and the Rocky Mountain regional press fleet. To get a good idea of the type of drivers behind the RMAP competitions, RMAP has 95 automotive media members in Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, New Mexico, Arizona, Nebraska, and Kansas for a diverse range of drivers when it comes to judging the best truck of the year. RMAP members also meet with automaker’s executives, engineers, designers, and other representatives to learn all the details available about the latest vehicles entering a competition or being reviewed. With an outreach of millions of potential car, SUV, and truck buyers, RMAP promotes these winnings through multiple channels on the internet, in print, on TV, and radio to make sure every truck driver knows what’s best.
For the “Truck of the Year” awards, RMAP has some pretty unique features for testing and scoring these trucks. These attributes cover performance, value, vehicle features, and for RMAP, how well the vehicle handled and performed on the Rocky Mountain region’s varied and rugged roads and terrain. The first couple of factors are the basics we see in most award lists, but being that this is a Rocky Mountain competition, we need to know what truck can handle the rockiest of roads. The list was narrowed down to four finalists before voting, and once all RMAP membership’s votes were tallied, the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX was officially declared the winner.
As if there was any doubt?
“There was some really great competition this year for ‘Truck of the Year’ in the Denver Region…However, the Ram 1500 TRX was the run-away winner among the Rocky Mountain Automotive Press group of automotive journalists.” – RMAP President Craig Conover
