What’s New for the 2024 Ram ProMaster Cargo Van?

After Ram Truck turned the Ram ProMaster cargo can into a battery-electric vehicle (BEV), anything seemed possible for the pickup truck automaker. After 2023 brought something completely new for the first-time ever, the Ram ProMaster has cemented its place in the lineup for years to come. Going on to 2024, there are some changes added to upgrade the interior, and the commercial van will become available by the end of the year (2023).
What’s New for 2024
Optional equipment has been added for consumers to opt-in for in the new year. The 2024 Ram ProMaster will offer a heated steering wheel and heated windshield. Safety has been upgraded for 2024, adding features like ParkSense with stop, white noise backup alarm, and a “normal” backup alarm.
Powertrain
Being a cargo van, some configuration is possible. The 2024 Ram ProMaster offers cargo lengths 8-feet, 10-feet, 12-feet, and 13-feet; and the three roof sizes – (1) Standard Roof, with a 66-inch cargo height, (2) the High Roof, with a 77-inch cargo height; (3) and a new Super High Roof with an 86-inch cargo height). There are also 1500, 2500, and 3500 variations of these models. Regardless, a single powertrain is under the hood for the standard Ram ProMaster cargo van, a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine, capable of generating 276 horsepower and 250 lb-ft of torque, paired with a TorqueFlite® nine-speed automatic transmission, designed with a two-stage variable valve lift and variable valve timing. With the right equipment, the ProMaster delivers an impressive 4,680-pound maximum payload or a 6,910-pound maximum towing capacity.
Style
The exterior came with several standards to make the cargo van more functional, such as a floor height of 21 inches, an inner width of 56 inches between the wheel wells of the van, a sliding door that can open up to 49 inches, and rear doors that can open to a total 260 degrees. These features are perfect for delivery and technical services that need to be able to grab deliveries, tools, or equipment quickly and easily. The new options will match the heated exterior mirrors, and some models offer windows on the driver’s sliding door and/or passenger’s side. The new front-end offers a new headlamp design, available LED headlamp and fog lamp options.
Inside, the cargo van has a standard setup, but upfit packages can completely transform the interior cabin. Up front, the driver gets a 3.5-inch display, available as a digital cluster with a 7-inch display, cloth upholstery, and seating configurations that include two bucket seats, a bucket driver’s seat with a two-person front-passenger bench, or two swivel seats. The latter offers leather upholstery. An available rearview mirror is an LCD monitor that transmits a real-time video stream. This year, a new Crew Van has been added to the lineup, following much of the same design, but able to seat six people, and cargo lengths of six, seven, and nine-feet, and six different high roof configurations. Separated into a cabin and cargo, the driver can keep the driver and passenger area in a different climate.
