Time to Plan a “Trunk-or-Treat” Party
Spooktember is here, and Halloween is quickly approaching. Amongst those of us planning parties and get togethers, a lot of consumers out there have families to entertain. This is especially so with children, and we’ve all seen the trick-or-treaters that go out while there is still daylight to avoid their kids from being too scared at some of the grizzly costumes of the night, but it’s kind of sad. Instead, why not go to a family-friendly Halloween event? That’s what “Trunk-or-Treat” is all about.
Trunk-or-Treat
What, never heard of “Trunk-or-Treat”? It’s a pastime that’s been sweeping the nation for several years, and each year, becomes a little more popular with families who have a couple of younglings who are old enough to go trick-or-treating. It’s a fun way to get families, friends, and/or neighbors together to create a safe environment for kids to take part in Halloween and get some candy. All you really need to do is organize the event with some people to host the party, plan some activities, maybe find a venue, and of course, have a car.
The whole point of “Trunk-or-Treat” is to have kids go from car-to-car to find candy and treats, but it would be a little boring, and not-so-festive, if they’re all boring old cars. No, we’re talking decorations and creativity. Just look at those cars above. Each has a playful theme to make the car look like a candy wonderland from the outside before kids actually get to the trunk of the car to grab some candy.
Lining up the cars in a row is also a bit of a snore. That’s why instead of doing this in the neighborhood, finding a park or field you can use or rent out for the night would be way better. This way, the cars can be spread out a bit, decorations can be used to make a maze or various paths kids can use to find the next car. One great activity would be a scavenger hunt with clues on how to find the next car with candy and treats hidden somewhere in the park.
Alternatives
If the above is impossible or a little pricey, we all know how to throw a Halloween party. So what about having a family friendly Halloween party designed around kids? There’s plenty of party games that are Halloween themed – pumpkin carving, pin the hat on the witch, bobbing for apples (just be sure to have plenty of apples and separate buckets for sanitary reasons). A little green-colored punch and games to win candy, maybe even a piñata, and the party is ready to go.
Oh, and what kind of Halloween is complete without a visit to a haunted house? This will take more planning with people you trust, but what about decorating a house or two and make it a little spooky? Many families will go the extra mile to turn their yard or garage into a haunted place, but what if you had an entire house to use? It might be a little spooky, but if kids are involved, we don’t need a whole lot of jump scares. Just some decorations and family friends dressed ups as zombies or ghouls should be enough. Just make sure there is a lot of candy at the end as the price for being frightened – or, again, a party destination! Yay!
Halloween is a little less than two weeks away. There is still plenty of time to plan this, so start making those phone calls. If you plan a “Trunk-or-Treat” event, be sure to share your photos with us on Aventura Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram social media.
