The 2021 Ram Rebel TRX Begins Production
The Ram Rebel TRX is the monster of monster trucks, but bite size. It’s the apex predator in the world of pickup trucks, but maybe not the entire auto industry. Like Jurassic World, someone out there is already working on making something bigger and better and if they succeed, they’ll have to tackle the Tyrannosaurus Rex of light duty pickup trucks. With the amount of popularity the Ram TRX garnered, by the time it was finally released, the Ram 1500 Rebel TRX Launch Edition sold out in a single day. We know extinction of the dinosaurs happened quickly, but this is ridiculous – ridiculously great for the Ram Trucks auto brand.
Didn’t get a chance to purchase one of the Launch Edition models? Have no fear. The Launch Edition may have been the only lineup available for 2020, but the all-new 2021 Ram 1500 TRX has already begun production at the Sterling Heights Assembly Plant (SHAP) in Sterling Heights, Michigan. Yes, manufacturers are hard at working putting together more units of the ferocious pickup truck for all the fans eagerly waiting. The first unit to roll off the line will be a collector’s item, though.
Printed with VIN No. 001, the first unit is also the first of the Ram 1500 TRX Launch Edition (preorders have been filled out, but units still need to be produced). This very first unit of the Ram 1500 Rebel TRX comes with an exclusive Anvil exterior paint job and will only be available via an auction – details to be released early 2021. It’s all for a good cause, too! All proceeds at the auction will go to a charity in need.
“We’re ecstatic to announce the start of production of the award-winning, all-new 2021 Ram 1500 TRX…The Ram 1500 TRX bolsters the brand’s strong history of high-performance trucks while expanding Ram’s light-duty lineup with the segment’s best combination of performance, capability, luxury and technology.” – Mike Koval Jr., Head of Ram Brand
It’s been a long time coming, with the Ram TRX originally announced way back in 2018. Feels like a long time ago, does it not? Designed to outperform every truck on the market today, the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX has been tested to handle all kinds of conditions that will test its power, capability, and durability. All that power needs a strong engine pushing it around, and we can thank the supercharged engine found in SRT Hellcat models by Dodge. It’s the 6.2-liter supercharged HEMI® V8 engine, engineered to make the TRX the quickest, fastest, and most powerful mass-produced half-ton pickup truck in the world. Able to 702 horsepower, 650 lb-ft of torque, and able to accelerate from 0-60 miles per hour (mph) in 4.5 seconds, run a quarter mile in 12.9 seconds at 108 mph, and hit a top speed of 118 mph, overtime may be a thing of the past.
For those of you that did get a Launch Edition, consider yourself lucky. The 2021 1500 TRX Launch Edition was limited to 702 units to match with the horsepower, comes with the exclusive Anvil Gray paint job, and a special red and brushed-aluminum center console badge. As an added bonus, each Launch Edition model comes with the TRX Level 2 Equipment Group, and that adds carbon fiber interior trim, color accent package, a head-up display, beadlock-capable wheels, 19-speaker Harman Kardon premium sound system, dual-pane panoramic sunroof, Advanced Safety Group, and hood and bodyside graphics. The special edition truck also comes with a RamBar by Mopar, rock rails by Mopar, bed-mounted tire carrier by Mopar, Trailer Tow Group and Trailer Reverse Steering Control. It really is the Apex of pickup trucks.
