SiriusXM Releases ACN+ for Select Stellantis Brands
Safety will always be a huge factor when it comes to car buying. Just because we’re encased in metal machines doesn’t mean we’re completely invulnerable. Crumple zones are in place during construction to absorb impact and energy, and incident deterring safety systems are getting better every year, but accidents on the road do happen. It is a fact of life when getting behind the wheel of an automobile. Sirius XM Connected Vehicle Services Inc., a provider of connected services to vehicle manufacturers, recently announced a new feature being added to its services that will help consumers involved in a crash. The technology is already available across the US but is first hitting Jeep®, Chrysler, Dodge, Ram and Alfa Romeo models.
Called Advanced Automatic Crash Notification, or ACN+, the feature is an addition to SiriusXM Guardian™, a system offered by SiriusXM Connected Vehicle services. More than just satellite radio these days, SiriusXM offers the Guardian, a hands-free safety service that can connect drivers with a live agent if airbags deploy. That’s all well and good, but what if the driver is alone and unconscious? With ACN+, things get a little more advanced. After a crash, SiriusXM Guardian will link with the vehicle and send crash data directly to 911 personnel so they can act more quickly and have a better idea of the situation of the vehicle and the accident they’re dealing with before they arrive at the scene. Going even further, if consumers have a MedicAlert account, first responders will have access to personalized medical data valuable in an emergency situation.
