Last month, the annual event “MotorTrend Presents Roadkill Nights Powered by Dodge” was gearing up for another year where for one day, street racing becomes legal again. With a rich history dating back to 2015, the festival has plenty to offer, with Dodge thrill and drift rides, Dodge driving simulators, a classic and modern muscle car show, and the whole reason this event is happening – legal street racing. Going on for the seventh year*, the new Roadkill Nights event takes place on Saturday, August 13, 2022, on metro Detroit’s famed Woodward Avenue. Revving things up, the Dodge Direct Connection Grudge Race has now started to share project details for each of the automotive personalities selected for the grudge match.

With tickets now available, fans will want to learn how to attend “MotorTrend Presents Roadkill Nights Powered by Dodge” at motortrend.com/roadkill-nights-2022. This year, the Dodge grudge match chose four well-known stars in the automotive online space – Alex Taylor, Tavarish, Westen Champlin, and Throtl to face off against each other on Woodward Avenue. Each automotive personality receives a Challenger or Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye plus $10,000 in cash to customize their Challenger and make it street racing ready. With a new twist this year, to give the new Direct Connection parts catalog some well-deserved attention, drag-race project modifications will be limited to Direct Connection parts, including the Hellcrate Redeye 6.2L Supercharged Crate HEMI® engine and a plug-and-play Hellcrate Redeye 6.2L Supercharged Crate HEMI Engine Control Unit (ECU).

“The Grudge Match was a hit last year, so we’re bringing it back to Roadkill Nights. But this time, we’re giving competitors Direct Connection parts to use as building blocks in assembling their race cars…It’ll be fun to see if Alex can defend her crown against a mix of returning racers and new blood. Last year, everyone learned that getting traction is the key to street racing on Woodward Avenue. So this year, we’re upping the ante. All competitors will be running a Direct Connection crate engine that they can modify however they want, but they will all have the added challenge of competing with a Direct Connection six-speed manual transmission.” – Tim Kuniskis, Dodge brand chief executive officer – Stellantis

Last year, Alex Taylor won the grudge match, and now in 2022, she’ll need to defend the crown. Known as an automotive content creator, drag racer, and mechanic, Taylor is leading the all-star lineup of racers competing in a bracket-style showdown. She is accompanied by many YouTube automotive personalities – Freddy Hernandez, better known online as Tavarish known his rebuilding videos; Westen Champlin; an automotive guru from Kansas, known on YouTube for videos focused on rebuilding and fixing pickup trucks and other vehicles;; Herman Young, also known as Demonology, known for content surrounding all things Dodge Demon; car builder, racer, and TV host Collete Davis known for unique and colorful builds on YouTube who has competed professionally in an assortment of racing types, including open-wheel cars, rally cross, monster trucks, and currently, drifting.
