Ram Wins MotorTrend Truck of the Year Title Once Again
Automotive publications around the world are starting to wrap up their reviews, competitions, and lists to let consumers know which vehicles are the best choice for purchase this year. We all know 2020 may have been a bit rough, and people aren’t driving around as much. Even with auto sales taking a hit for every major automaker, the publications and organizations that write about them don’t stop. One well-known name is “MotorTrend”. With awards sought-after by automakers all over the world, if an automobile wins a MotorTrend “____ of the Year” award, then it may as well have a “A Grade” stamp on it, because it’s a cut above the rest. We always love it when Ram Trucks get their dues, and the new Ram 1500 TRX just won the MotorTrend Truck of the Year Award, making it the third year-in-a-row for the light duty pickup truck.

These performance numbers are then double checked on three separate courses at a professional automotive test center before being selected as a winner.
After weeks of testing, vehicles aren’t just chosen for the winning circle based on how well they do against others in competition. MotorTrend Editors have a list of qualities they look for in each vehicle during its evaluation. The criteria for grading mentioned above covers design advancement, engineering excellence, efficiency, safety, value, and performance of intended function. This year makes true history for the Ram 1500 pickup truck. According to MotorTrend Editor-in-Chief Mark Rechtin, a three-year consecutive win is one of the rarest instances seen by this publication.

In actuality, since Ram Trucks split off from Dodge, the automaker has received MotorTrend Truck of the Year six times in the last eleven years. In 2019, the Ram 1500 earned the title, and in 2020 the Ram Heavy Duty took home the gold, figuratively speaking.
