Ram Unveils New 2020 Ram 1500 Laramie Southwest Edition

March 20th, 2020 by

COVID-19 may be slowing down automakers and affecting production, but Ram Trucks refuses to give up. Earlier in March 2020, Ram unveiled the 2021 ProMaster and the Ram 1500 Snow Prep Package at the 2020 Work Truck Show. Now, as we’re in the midst of mayhem, Ram unveils another vehicle to perk things up a bit. If consumers thought the next-generation Ram 1500 Laramie Longhorn was a beautiful sight to behold, then get ready for the next Laramie special, the new 2020 Ram 1500 Laramie Southwest Edition. It’s a new luxury trim for the Ram 1500, pushing the boundaries once again.

“For nearly 20 years, Ram has recognized that Texas and America’s Southwest are the center of the truck universe…Ram was the first manufacturer to offer a Texas-exclusive model and the Lone Star edition remains our most popular truck in Texas. Our new Ram Laramie Southwest Edition adds the segment’s best combination of performance, capability, luxury and technology.” – Mike Koval, Ad Interim Head of Ram Brand, FCA – North America

Like the Laramie Longhorn, this special edition Ram truck may just be available in Texas and neighboring states. South Florida is just outside the radius, but just because it’s sold in Texas doesn’t mean a Floridian can’t buy one. That’d just be silly. Besides, it’s not like Texans are the only truck drivers that like a little luxury with all that power. The 2020 Ram 1500 Laramie Southwest Edition isn’t just high-class either – a new premium package with additional features comes with it.

The exterior is, of course, getting some changes to separate the Laramie Southwest Edition apart from the rest of the lineup on sight. Consumers will find simple concepts like body-colored bumpers, mirrors, and grille surround that give the Southwest Edition a sophisticated appearance, but the chrome highlights, tow hooks, grille inserts, bodyside moldings, and polished 20-inch wheels give it that “wow, that’s nice” factor. Making it easy to get in and out, power side steps come standard and fold out of the way when the truck is parked or driving.

Inside is even better. We said there was a premium package, and the features that come with it turn the Ram 1500 Laramie Southwest Edition into a truck loaded with technology and a unique feature. We’re talking a dual-pane panoramic sunroof and the Uconnect 4C infotainment system on the Ram exclusive 12-inch touchscreen. No Uconnect 5, but we’re sure the upgrade will be available over-the-air. There are also a few advanced safety features included, such as Blind-spot Monitoring with Rear Cross Path detection and ParkSense® Front and Rear Park-Assist with Stop. If looking for increased comfort, the Southwest Edition is available with bench or buckets seats, and those that choose that latter also get a heavy-duty Mopar locking console.

Curious about the configurations? The 2020 Ram 1500 Laramie Southwest Edition is available with either powertrain option equipped and can come with a Quad and Crew Cab body. For loading up equipment, consumers can also choose from 5 ft.-7 in. (Crew only) or 6 ft.-4-in. bed lengths. It’s all sounding good right? Consumers won’t have to wait long.

The new 2020 Ram 1500 Laramie Southwest Edition model will go on sale in the second quarter of 2020. With a starting MSRP of $45,380 (plus destination fee), it’s a luxury model without the luxury price. What do you think of the new 2020 Ram 1500 Laramie Southwest Edition?
