Ram Truck Mods for a Work Truck
Hey there all you busybodies, we know if you own a truck, you’re looking to get some work done. A lot of vehicles out there are built tough, right out of the factory, but a little personalization and tinkering can turn a regular truck, say a Ram 1500, into something personal for your business and daily needs. All it takes is a little modification and imagination.
Now before we get into the grit of this, it would be unwise not to mention the Ram ProMaster and ProMaster City. These Ram vehicles are built for business-minded folk who want options. That’s why we have Ram ProMaster Upfits, an array of pre-designed setups for your ProMaster, cargo van, bus, mobile office – you can see where we’re going with this. What if you have something else in mind? Well, there’s a couple of accessories (optional and aftermarket) that would be a good place to start.
Floor Liners, Seat Covers, and Bed Mats
Most of us who own a truck don’t only use it for work. It’s also our main source of travel, and you know what they say, “Don’t bring your work home with you.” The same goes for your pickup truck. Invest in some great floor liners and seat covers that are built to endure spills, slush, dirt, and grime, and they can be easily removed and washed. Same goes for some truck bed mats, you want something durable but easy to clean. This way most of the aftermath of a job well done doesn’t stick around after hours.
Mud Flaps and Splash Guards
Many who think “mud flaps” also see that silhouette of “mudflap girl” behind the wheels of an 18-wheeler. Mud flaps however actually play an important part in modifying a truck for the work site. They block any debris and/or particles your wheels pick up and stop it from hitting the underside of the truck, potentially damaging it. Splash guards work similarly, mainly to minimize the spray of water and mud from messing up a paint job. Both are an inexpensive way to help keep your truck looking ready for a night out.
If you’re unfamiliar with the name, you may have seen it before and not know it. A tonneau cover is basically a flat truck bed covering, usually one that slides or folds in on itself, used to basically keep equipment stored away safely. That’s all there is to it. They’re usually offered as an additional feature for a Ram 1500, but that’s why there are options.
Ram Cargo Box Management System
Even if you’re not using your truck for work, this is a must-have installment. Offered on all cab sizes with a truck bed less than 8-feet, the Ram Cargo Box Management System is a durable and drainable storage system incorporated into the side of a truck bed. Built with the Class-Exclusive AllSecure Central Locking System, you can store tons of small tools, components, and even refreshments (drainable cooler at each end). Being organized is getting half of the job done, like food prep.
Ram Cargo Bed Extender and Divider
Also a great addition for the Ram 1500 truck bed. If you’re not getting a tonneau cover, but want to secure your items, the Ram Cargo Bed Extender and Divider not only comes with the Ram Cargo Box Management System, but it can add two feet of space for longer bed loads and has a cargo rail system for tying down loose objects. Whereas the cargo box can store tools and small items, the bed extender and divider can secure the larger components and equipment needed for the job.
These are just some of the modifications that can turn any truck into a work truck. Just keep in mind, nothing beats the Ram Cargo Box System, so if you’re looking for a work truck, or a truck to turn into a work truck, Ram is the place to start.
