Ram Truck Harvest Edition Comes Just in Time
As Ram trucks become more commonplace and popular on the streets, Ram still has its roots firmly planted in one place in particular – North American farmland. Ever since the HEMI and Cummins turbo-diesel engines made it into the mainstream of the auto market, Ram pickup and heavy duty trucks have become a large favorite of agriculture. As some of you may know, this year (2017), the Fall Equinox is on September 22, and that means it’ll be time to harvest all the good stuff planted in the spring. To honor the farmers of America that have mastered such a calculated craft, Ram added a new edition to its 2018 models – the Ram Harvest Edition.
The Ram Harvest Edition isn’t exclusive to just one model. According to Mike Manley, head of Jeep & Ram Brands – FCA Global, the Harvest Edition will be available across the Ram 1500, 2500, and 3500 lineups, in all four-door Quad, Crew, and Mega Cab configurations, all box lengths, and all powertrains, including 5.7-liter Hemi V-8, 6.4-liter Hemi V-8, and 6.7-liter Cummins Turbo Diesel. But there’s a whole lot more going on with the Ram truck Harvest Edition.
Made for the agricultural market, new features will be added that will only be available on the Harvest Edition. We’re talking a ride-height increase of 1 inch that gives the truck a total of 9 inches of ground clearance with the standard on/off-road tires on all Ram 1500 Harvest Edition models, plus farm-life essentials such as black tubular side steps, a durable spray-in bedliner, fold-out bumper step, mud flaps, and rubber floor mats. On the 4×4 powertrain, skid plates and tow hooks are also included. Ram Heavy Duty 2500 and 3500 models come with on/off-road tires and add a cargo-view camera. For those cold nights, heated seats are optional.
Plus, most farmers are tech-savvy these days. So the Ram Harvest Edition comes with an 8.4-inch Uconnect 4C touchscreen radio with navigation, 4G Wifi, Apple CarPlay, and Google Android Auto standard. This will be great to offer up-to-the minute weather maps and forecasts customizable to any location the consumer is farming. There are also some exterior changes to set the Harvest Edition apart from other pickup trucks, namely a chrome Wave Mesh cross-hair grille, bright front and rear bumpers, 17-inch chrome wheels (1500 models, 18-inch polished aluminum on Heavy Duty models), chrome mirrors, chrome door handles, and chrome-tipped dual exhausts (V8 1500 models). Many color options are also available – Bright White, Brilliant Black monotone, two-tone Bright Silver, and two new color options, Case IH Red, and New Holland Blue.
