Ram “Premature Electrification” Ad-Spot Premiers During Super Bowl 57

Whoo, shots were fired during the Super Bowl 57 commercial time. Jeep and Ram Truck were sure to get their hits in to talk about upcoming models like the all-new Ram 1500 REV battery-electric pickup truck. The first all-electric offer from the automaker, the brand decided to go for something that would speak to the masses of electric vehicle (EV) consumers who aren’t exactly sure if they want to make the transition, while also sneaking in a lot of sexual innuendo only consumers of a certain age may understand or find humorous. The 60-second commercial, “Premature Electrification,” definitely goes people listening.
“We created this commercial to speak directly to Ram truck owners and potential truck owners to bring some lighthearted humor to the high-tech, EV conversation, which rightfully takes itself very seriously…As we open reservations today for a place in line to pre-order the all-electric Ram 1500 REV, we wanted to directly address any potential concerns about EV truck ownership using an approach that we believe will resonate with our truck-buying consumers. The intent of the spot is to let our buyers know that we have listened to their concerns as part of our dialogue with them over the last several years as we prepare to introduce the all-electric Ram 1500 REV to the market in 2024.” – Olivier Francois, global chief marketing officer, Stellantis
The highly anticipated all-new Ram 1500 REV battery-electric truck showed up at the 2023 Chicago Auto Show as it continues to make debuts around the world, and in honor of its upcoming “release”, Ram bought up some time during the Super Bowl commercials to talk about the Ram 1500 REV in a way that speaks to many consumers who worry about driving range and needing to stop and look for a charging station before their journey continues. It’s a common fear amongst many consumers, no matter the brand. Gasoline stations are on every major exit, around nearly every corner, or just down the street. The country is working towards an infrastructure that supports charging stations to make them more available to make EVs more practical to the average consumer, but that’s a goal that’s still a ways off.
So, alongside the humor, Ram wanted to assure consumers that the 1500 REV can “go the distance” and “satisfy the urge” for being able to keep going for a long time. We of course mean driving for hours on end, without needing to scramble for the next charging station. Able to boast range, payload, towing capacity, and a quick charging time, the Ram 1500 REV is already opening up doors to make a reservation. For those that can’t wait to get into the saddle, the Ram brand kicked off the Rev Insider+ paid membership program. Consumers can pay a one-time $100 refundable fee, and that gives them a better chance of getting to reserve a pre-order of the Ram 1500 REV and exclusive access to events, news, and more information about the Ram 1500 REV.
The “Premature Electrification” commercial is now accessible across Ram’s social media channels. Starring Emmy-nominated actor Jason Jones, the ad spoke to consumers on many different levels.
