Ram 2500 Wins Popular Science 2020 Best of What’s New Award

Popular Science is a popular publication in America that covers exactly what the title entails – popular scientific content – and presents such information to readers in the form of articles on science and technology subjects. Sometimes, Popular Science will dip into various industries for their scientific and technological achievements, such as the auto industry. Back in 2017, when the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon was first coming out, Popular Science awarded the Dodge SRT Demon with its 2017 “Best of What’s New” award for the SRT Power Chiller™ that came with the Demon. If it takes that kind of innovation to land a place on the Popular Science “Best of What’s New” list and win an award, then just think of how amazing the new Ram 2500 Heavy Duty Trucks are. Ram Trucks was named the winner of Popular Science magazine’s 2020 Best of What’s New award in the Auto category, and mainly for the Ram 2500 HD.

“The Ram 2500 Heavy Duty is among the Best of What’s New because its unique blend of tech makes it tough yet sophisticated…That’s a tough balance to strike, especially in a field crowded with so much innovation.” – Joe Brown, Editor-in-Chief of Popular Science.

That’s quite an interesting statement, but it’s definitely true for these heavy-duty pickup trucks. The 2020 Ram Heavy Duty offers a towing capacity of 35,100 pounds and a payload capacity of 7,680 pounds. Despite the ability to handle tough jobs with large workloads, the Ram Heavy Duty also caters to consumers in ways nearly unheard of. Setting the benchmarks in comfort, luxury materials, innovation, and technology, the Ram 2500 HD doesn’t feel like a truck at all. Plus, with many firsts like the Ram-exclusive Uconnect 12-inch touchscreen, the industry-first feature of SiriusXM 360L and industry-first feature SiriusXM’s new “Personalized Stations Powered by Pandora”. Consumers can enjoy a combination of rich music curation and industry-leading personalization like never before while towing over 15 tons.

Winning the Popular Science 2020 Best of What’s New award in the Auto category is no small feat. Every year, Popular Science editors review thousands of new products and innovations across a number of industries, highlighting some of the most ground-breaking stuff on the market. Out of these thousands, only 100 winners across 11 categories are chosen for the list. According to the publication, in an order to win a “Best of What’s New” award, a product or technology must represent a significant step forward in its category. That means the 2020 Ram 2500 Heavy Duty pickup truck is the first heavy duty pickup truck to push trucks a little further, not just in the auto category but the auto and truck industry.

The “Best of What’s New” awards have been going on since 1988 and covers the following 11 categories: Automotive, Aerospace, Engineering, Entertainment, Gadgets, General Innovation, Security, Software, Home, Health, and Recreation. Every year, the “Best of What’s New” is the most widely read Popular Science issue of the year. Now, everyone knows the kind of innovations Ram trucks is making.
