Wow, we knew trucker fans were eagerly awaiting the release of the Ram Rebel 1500 TRX but this is insane. As popular as the Jeep Gladiator pickup truck, as soon as orders went live for the Ram 1500 TRX Launch Edition, they were bound to be gone, and they are! All 702 units of the limited Ram 1500 TRX Launch Edition have been sold. The Launch Edition actually sold out in about three hours, maybe a record for vehicle sales. Although still in production at FCA’s Sterling Heights (Michigan) Assembly Plant, buyers will still have to wait for the official release.

“The groundswell of demand for our all-new 2021 Ram 1500 TRX Launch Edition validates our efforts to bring the fastest, quickest, most powerful pickup truck to market…We said the Ram 1500 TRX Launch Edition would go fast. And we meant that in more ways than one.” – Mike Koval Jr., Head of Ram Brand

Why only 702 units? Sounds like an odd number to stop at, but there is some meaning behind it. The 2021 Ram 1500 Rebel TRX is powered by a 6.2-liter supercharged HEMI V8 engine, able to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 4.5 seconds and run a quarter mile in 12.9 seconds at 108 mph. This truck also has a top speed of 118 mph to boast – definitely one for the racetracks. That powerful engine is capable of generating 702 horsepower and 650 lb.-ft. of torque. Yep, Ram Trucks is paying homage to the monster truck by producing one unit for every horse.

So, what’s so special about the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX Launch Edition? If you didn’t get one of those 702 units, don’t worry, you didn’t miss out on much. The TRX Launch Edition comes with Anvil Gray as the paint job, a color exclusive to the Launch Edition. Inside, the cabin is a little more colorful with a special red and brushed-aluminum center console badge that lets everyone know this is the special, limited-edition TRX model. The main goodies come with the TRX Level 2 Equipment Group, adding carbon fiber interior trim, color accent package, Head-up Display, beadlock-capable wheels, 19-speaker Harman Kardon premium sound system, a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, and bodyside graphics. Seeing as how this is an equipment group package for the TRX, we assume consumers can still get in on this even without the Launch Edition.

Like we said, you’re not missing much, so don’t fret. The apex predator of the truck world can still be glorious with the equipment package and other special features we’re sure to learn about as the TRX gets closer to its release date. And remember, there is plenty to love on the Ram 1500 Rebel TRX in the first place. Still able to go off road, the TRX comes equipped with a new BorgWarner 48-13 full-time active transfer case with a low range of 2.64:1 for rock crawling, flat-towing – that’s when a vehicle is dragged behind another vehicle, usually seen on RVs – and a large ground clearance of 11.8 inches thanks to a 2-inch ride height increase and 35-inch tires. It’s really one of the best trucks out there, if not the best.
