New 2023 Ram 2500 Heavy Duty Rebel Unveiled

The Ram Truck brand has been pushing the envelope over the past few years for what a pickup truck can do. With models like the Ram Power Wagon, Ram 1500 TRX, and even the Ram 1500 Rebel, these are the most capable production off-road trucks in the industry. Ram is leading the pack, and to expand its current lineup, a new model was unveiled at the 2022 State Fair of Texas. Offering off-road performance and 16+ pounds of towing capability, the new 2023 Ram 2500 Heavy Duty Rebel joins the Ram lineup this year (2022).

Straight from the factory, the new 2023 Ram 2500 Heavy Duty Rebel is set up for success with performance and a distinct appearance that sets it apart. With two powertrains available, consumers can power their HD Rebel with (1) a 6.4-liter HEMI® V8 with cylinder deactivation and variable-cam timing (VCT), able to produce 410 horsepower and 429 lb-ft of torque, or (2) a 6.7-liter Cummins Turbo Diesel I6 engine able to produce 370 horsepower and 850 lb-ft of torque. Both engines are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Every 2500 Heavy Duty Rebel comes equipped with off-road suspension, a rear limited-slip differential and rear electronic locker, 20-inch wheels (optional 18-inch wheels later in the model year) wrapped in 33-inch off-road tires, and skid plates to protect the fuel tank and transfer case when going over gravel, dirt, and rocks with this off-road heavy duty pickup truck.

With the best ride and handling, loaded or unloaded, the new 2023 Ram 2500 Heavy Duty Rebel come with the brand-exclusive five-link coil design for improved performance when load-carrying and control during turns. Available features include a rear air suspension system to improve control and the comfort of the ride when hitting the bumps, and an integrated front-mounted WARN Zeon-12 winch, rated at 12,000 lbs. If choosing the winch, this order will come straight from the factory, featuring a unique fairlead and fairlead retainer with synthetic line to avoid kinking or fraying of the line and improves maneuverability. When properly equipped, the maximum towing capability for the new 2023 Ram 2500 Heavy Duty Rebel is 16,870 pounds, with a maximum payload of 3,140 pounds.

With a dash of seating options and a splash of tech, the 2500 Heavy Duty Rebel come with three seating upholstery options – cloth, Bristol leather, and full Natura Plus leather. Cloth and Bristol leather can come as a bench or bucket seats, but only bucket seats are available for the Natura Plus leather option. As far as technology goes, the a 360-degree Surround View camera can offer a look at all obstacles when setting up a trailer with a single display-screen view of both sides and a forward-view camera with gridlines. Also available is a 12-inch frameless digital gauge cluster, featuring two dozen different menus, with settings able to be saved to a profile to give each user easy access to their most used information or data. Safety features have also been enhanced, with available options including adaptive cruise control, full-speed forward-collision warning plus, Lane Keep Assist, Blind-spot Monitoring and Rear Cross Path detection, automatic headlamps, digital rearview mirror with tow mode, and rain-sensing windshield wipers.

Available in a single configuration, the new 2023 Ram 2500 Heavy Duty Rebel can only come with a crew cab with a six-foot, four-inch truck bed. Starting at an MSRP of $67,045 (plus destination fee), the HD Rebel will land sometime this fourth quarter (2022).
