It’s been some time since we’ve seen another Dodge vehicle get an all-wheel drive option. For some reason, it’s a little rare in the lineup. Even the Dodge Charger has an all-wheel drivetrain, but it’s only available on base SXT trim – what’s up with that? Maybe it’s time Dodge dusted it off? Well, it’s hard to keep a good thing down because Dodge is correcting their mistake of forgetting about the Dodge Charger GT when it comes to improved driving and handling on the road. New for 2020 is the Dodge Charger GT AWD.

This is a brand-new addition, now bringing the total lineup for the 2020 Dodge Charger to eight, not including the Limited Edition 2020 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody Daytona Anniversary Edition. Now we have the 2020 Dodge Charger SXT with rear-wheel drive (RWD), GT, SXT AWD, GT AWD, R/T, Scat Pack, Scat Pack Widebody, and SRT Hellcat Widebody. We can probably assume that the 2020 Dodge Charger GT AWD will still be powered by the same engine, a Pentastar 3.6-liter V6 engine capable of generating 300 horsepower and 264 lb-ft of torque. Paired to the standard TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission, the 2020 Dodge Charger GT AWD has an EPA-estimated 18 city/27 highway mpg fuel economy.

Now, the Charger GT AWD is a vehicle that muscle car fans can enjoy all-year round all across the nation. Rain, snow, or slush, be it just around the corner or for miles ahead, the 2020 Dodge Charger GT AWD can give drivers more confidence when driving in all kinds of weather conditions. For the first time ever in the lineup, the Charger GT AWD is the perfect combination of fierce exterior features and performance. When checking out the body, consumers will find a performance hood, fascia, sculpted side sills, and a spoiler. Inside the cabin are high-bolstered seats and a performance steering wheel with paddle shifters.

“Most people think of Chargers and Challengers as high-performance muscle cars, which clearly they are, but they can also be four-season capable AWD performance cars…Only Dodge offers vehicles that combine practicality and all-weather driving confidence without sacrificing muscle car attitude.” Tim Kuniskis, Global Head of Alfa Romeo and Head of Passenger Cars – Dodge, SRT, Chrysler and FIAT, FCA – North America.

Built with a class-exclusive all-wheel-drive system that comes with an active transfer case and front-axle disconnect, the Charger GT AWD has a number of additions that make it special. For those who always want to drive on all four wheels, there is a Sport button in the cockpit for full-time engagement. With AWD engaged, gear changes are quicker and revs hold higher for top-notch performance-oriented acceleration. Consumers will also find a Super Track Pak button that activates Dodge Performance Pages and its launch control features embedded in the Uconnect 4 8.4-inch touchscreen.

Riding on 19-inch aluminum wheels in a Satin Carbon finish, wrapped in P235/55R19 BSW all-season performance tires, the Charger GT AWD can handle all kinds of weather and driving conditions. For additional safety, projector LED fog lamps, a performance rear spoiler, ParkSense rear park assist, and a ParkView rear backup camera all come standard on the 2020 Dodge Charger GT AWD. The Charger GT AWD delivers all of this at a starting MSRP of $34,995 (plus destination fee).

Orders for the 2020 Dodge Charger GT AWD begin in January and vehicles are scheduled to arrive in Dodge//SRT dealerships during the first quarter of 2020. There’s no telling how many each dealership can get. Come to Aventura Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram and order your 2020 Dodge Charger GT AWD today.
