Jeep Wins Three Awards from 2022 Rebelle Rally
Rebelle Rally, the first all-women’s off-road rally and the longest competition of its kind in the lower 48 states has recently concluded for 2022, and the winners have been announced. After eight days of grueling routes from Nevada to California and taking on desert terrain, competitors covered more than 1,440 miles going off-road to take home the crown. Well, there are few vehicles known for their prowess in the desert, and one of them is definitely off-road automaker Jeep. In fact, out of the 45 teams driving vehicles from 10 different automotive manufacturers, the Jeep® brand won two awards this year and landed in the winner’s circle for Rebelle Rally 2022.

That’s right, the Jeep Wrangler 4xe was the one to take home two awards this year – and to think some consumers doubt the capabilities of plug-in hybrid vehicles. Not only did the Jeep Wrangler 4xe win an award for the electrified class (for the second year-in-a-row), but it also took home the Bone Stock award. That means the Wrangler 4xe raced in the Rebelle Rally was a bare bones model with very little, if any, upgrades or modifications made for the race. Now that’s a testament to off-road capability, especially when it comes to the 2000-kilometer (1,500-mile) race of off-road navigation, spanning from Lake Tahoe to San Diego, dealing with deserts and harsh topography all along the way.
Getting behind the wheel of the Jeep Wrangler 4xe in the 2022 Rebelle Rally were Nena Barlow and Teralin Petereit – two well-known winners amongst the racing crowd. 2022 is Petereit’s fourth overall win in her two other years of competition in the rally, and in recent years, Barlow has won four Bone Stock awards, plus two overall wins and four overall podium finishes. What a winning team to pilot the Wrangler 4xe through sandy dunes. 2022 marks the sixth time Jeep 4×4 vehicles have taken home the gold, racking up the points, and earning overall wins as well as the aforementioned awards. Jeep has never placed lower than third place, and 2022 continues the pattern.
It’s all thanks to the Jeep Wrangler 4xe propulsion system, made up of two electric motors, a 2.0-liter I-4 engine, and eight-speed automatic transmission with solid front and rear axles and a full-time two-speed transfer case. Known for adventure, navigating the Rebelle Rally without GPS and other electronic devices, it’s up to the driver and team navigator. Aside from the team with Barlow and Petereit, Jeep also put together two other teams – (1) Team Dirt Hustle (team 188), with Laura Wanlass and Maria Guitar in a 2021 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited (EcoDiesel), and (2) an all-Navajo team with Rebelle Racquel Black and Jeep brand employee Kaitlyn Mulkey on team Hózhó Vibrations (team 160) in a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 4xe.
