Planet Earth is our home planet, we need to take care of it. To do their part, many auto brands are making greener cars to help lower the carbon footprint left by vehicles. Recently, the Jeep Grand Cherokee won the “Green ALV” Award at the 13th Annual Active Lifestyle Vehicle Competition. Coincidentally, the Ram 1500 Rebel earned the “Best Value Off-Road” Award at the same competition. Let’s shine a little light on these two great auto brands.

The Annual Active Lifestyle Vehicle Competition is held every year, and is the hotspot for media outlets, athletes, and outdoor enthusiasts to see what are the best cars on the market. Nina Russin, the ALV co-founder, had this to say about this year’s competition, “Individuals with active lifestyles don’t want the vehicles they drive to limit where they travel, or the amount of gear they can carry…Ram Truck and Jeep proved that their vehicles perform equally well on- and off-road, and offer spacious, configurable cargo areas that fill the squares for buyers who like to venture off the grid, carrying their bicycles, kayaks, and camping equipment with them.”

Unlike other car award shows, this show is only focused on outdoor enthusiasts and athletes who need to get around and travel, whether cross-country or across mountains. Plus, the outdoor enthusiasts, athletes, and automotive media outlets that attend pick the winners via an evaluation process that consists of navigating an off-road course and on-road driving.

Jeep Grand Cherokee

The Jeep Grand Cherokee is the most awarded SUV ever, holding the title for what a premium SUV should be. The Grand Cherokee is available in six trim levels: Laredo, Laredo E, Limited, Trailhawk, Overland and Summit. The most high-end trim, the Summit, receives added features and a special Summit California Edition appearance package that further enhances its premium exterior aesthetics.

Known for its legendary available 4×4 systems, Jeep is the number one choice for off-road adventures. It has three systems that have earned it “best-in-class” time and again: Jeep’s Quadra-Lift air suspension system, class-leading Selec-Terrain traction management system, and Jeep Active Drive.
