Jeep Brand’s “Electric Boogie” Campaign Goes Global

The Super Bowl was wild this year with that turnaround from the Kansas City Chiefs, 38-35. With many, many consumers watching the Super Bowl, it’s also a great chance for businesses to put their name out there and advertise a product. 4×4 SUV automaker Jeep® has been going electric steadily since 2018, introducing plug-in hybrid electric vehicles for more and more nameplates. The success of the Jeep Wrangler 4xe and the new Grand Cherokee 4xe are a good sign for the upcoming all-electric Jeep SUV. Putting the word out, the Jeep brand’s 60-second commercial “Electric Boogie” highlights the future of the brand’s new generation vehicles.
“We’ve brought ‘Electric Boogie’ into the future with our new-generation 4xe electrified lineup to inspire our drivers and a new generation of listeners through a song and dance that embodies the adventure, spirit and passion that our consumers hold for the brand…Authenticity is one of the Jeep brand’s core pillars, so it was extremely important to us to release this modernized version of ‘Electric Boogie’ with singer Marcia Griffiths, whose first recording of the song nearly 40 years ago made a huge impact on popular culture. We’d like to think of the commercial as a natural extension of our acclaimed ‘Earth Odyssey’ spot with our Jeep 4xe vehicles and the animal kingdom getting in rhythm with nature.” – Olivier Francois, global chief marketing officer, Stellantis
Yes, if this felt familiar, it’s because this is another commercial by Jeep with a large focus on animals and their interactions with the vehicle. Maybe this is part of a new marketing campaign, in “Electric Boogie”, the animals are joined by many digital dancing counterparts. A lot of parties came together to make this commercial happen. Originally recorded by Jamaican reggae singer Marcia Griffiths in 1982, the song “Electric Boogie” is an all-time legend, and inspiration for the global dance, the Electric Slide. The “Electric Boogie” marketing campaign was created in partnership with Chicago-based agency Highdive, and animation was created by The Mill. Highlighting the virtually silent drive of the Jeep Wrangler 4xe and Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe, these digital animals are able to enjoy the music along with the humans.
Already available on the brand’s social media channels, there is additional footage coming soon. The Jeep brand worked with Ms. Griffiths during a recording of the song in a Jamaican music studio with producer and dancehall/reggae icon Shaggy. This footage will become available in the coming weeks, and will be uploaded to the Jeep brand’s and Shaggy’s social media channels (Facebook: @Shaggy, Instagram, TikTok and Twitter: @direalshaggy).
Always looking for ways to connect with its demographic, the Jeep brand has also invited fans to join their new Electric Slide movement on TikTok by performing the dance and tagging #Jeep4xeBoogieWoogie. Going even further, this is the first time the Jeep brand takes its ad-spot global, acquiring global rights for the song to be featured in other commercials aired in markets around the world. Selling in more than 100 countries, a lot of people are about to be humming to the tune of the “Electric Boogie” or discovering a new dance.
