How to Plan for a Road Trip Post Quarantine
The COVID-19 pandemic is still going across the world in waves, but many states are reopening business doors and people are starting to travel a bit, if only to break the habit of staying indoors for weeks, or even months for some. Travelling means putting several people, including oneself, into a small space, sometimes for hours on end if going on a road trip. In a post-quarantine world where people wearing masks and gloves are the norm, preparing the family car for a virus-free road trip, there are some ways to help stop the spread of the infection.
Cleaning and Maintenance
The best way to keep a vehicle free from germs is to keep it clean. Before even starting to plan a trip, before preparing the vehicle with cleaning supplies and safety equipment, make sure to clean the inside and outside of the vehicle. Who knows what germs have been sitting around the cabin, hanging out on the same seats your kids will sit in. Use some type of cleaner made for automobile interior and upholstery. Also, be sure to take your vehicle in for maintenance – nothing like being stranded during a road trip.
Keep Protected and Clean
Most people have a pair of gloves and a few masks handy at this point, but if not, now is the time to try and stock up. Having a backpack filled with disposable gloves and reusable masks will help keep all passengers protected when venturing out of the car. For coming back inside, have a few grocery bags to dispose of the used gloves in, and be sure to keep hand sanitizer and wipes in easy reach in the vehicle.
