Remember the 2025 Ram 1500 RHO? Revealed back in April 2024, there hasn’t been much information on the new pickup truck since then. We did, however, get a good look at its powertrain, the engineering, and even the style inside and out. There is still no confirmation on whether the “RHO” nameplate stands for “Rebel High Output”, “Ram High Output” or even “RHINO”, though. So, what information could be left? The fuel economy of course. Said to be the successor to the Ram 1500 TRX, one would expect the fuel efficiency to be a little better.

“A little” is exactly how much better the fuel economy for the Ram 1500 RHO is than the TRX. The 2024 Ram 1500 TRX is powered by a 6.2-liter supercharged HEMI V-8 engine, capable of generating up to 702 horsepower and 650 lb.-ft. of torque. Equipped with a BorgWarner 48-13 full-time active transfer case with a low range of 2.64:1 for rock crawling, and flat-towing, the TRX has a fuel economy of 10 mpg in the city and 14 mpg on the highway, and 12 mpg combined. According to the latest news for the 2025 Ram 1500 RHO off-road truck’s government MPG rating, the fuel economy is slightly better.

Powered by a high-output version of Stellantis’ Hurricane engine, the RHO comes equipped with a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engine capable of producing 540 horsepower and 521 lb-ft of torque. The Hurricane engine is the newest addition to the global engine family for Stellantis, and many new vehicles are coming with two options: a Standard Output (S.O.) and/or a High Output (H.O.) version of the engine. The new 2025 Dodge Charger is powered by a S.O. 3.0L Twin Turbo Hurricane S.O. engine, but can upgrade to the 550-horsepower Dodge Charger SIXPACK H.O. option. So, we can see where the S.O. for the Ram 1500 RHO is coming from.

The fuel economy for the 2025 Ram 1500 RHO is rated at 14 mpg in the city, 16 mpg on the highway, and 15 mpg combined. It’s not much of a difference or an upgrade, but the engineering on the Ram 1500 RHO definitely makes up for it. Made to go off-road more than ever before, the 1500 Rho comes equipped with a fortified frame, a long-travel suspension with forged aluminum front control arms, adaptive Bilstein dampers, a BorgWarner 48-13 full-time active transfer case, Dana 60 rear axle with full-floating axle shafts, a rear electronic differential, and an axle hop damper. With a ground clearance up to 11.8 inches and able to handle water fording up to a depth of 32 inches, the RHO is riding on 18-inch beadlock wheels wrapped in 35-inch tires.

Inside, 12-way power-adjustable leather front seats with heating and ventilation come standard with available massaging functions, plus more than 30 inches of combined digital screens available. This includes a standard 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, an available 14.5-inch vertically oriented touchscreen, and a 10-inch front passenger screen. Available to order now, consumers can also add the RHO Equipment package to get a 360-degree camera system, a digital rearview mirror, dual wireless charging pads, massaging front seats, heated and ventilated rear outboard seats, a head-up display, power-adjustable pedals with memory settings, and a 19-speaker 900-watt Harman Kardon stereo system.
