Edmunds Rates Ram 1500 as Top Rated Truck for 2020
When it comes to shopping for a new car in today’s auto market, the name “Edmunds” should be as well-known as Kelley Blue Book. Known as one of the top American online resources for automotive information, Edmunds has been operating since 1966, first as Edmunds Publications but always with one goal – help car shoppers make informed buying decisions. So, when an automotive reviewer and publication like Edmunds names the Ram 1500 as its Top Rated Truck for 2020, that’s a commendable feat for any automaker to earn.
“The Ram 1500 just keeps getting better and is once again our Top Rated Truck for 2020…We still love its technology, interior built quality, ride comfort and capability, but the new EcoDiesel variant introduced this year delivers even stronger fuel economy, more torque and improved towing capability. The Ram 1500 easily remains the most desirable pickup truck on the market.” – Alistair Weaver, editor-in-chief, Edmunds.
The Edmunds Top Rated awards recognize overall excellence in the market today for seven vehicle categories, pickup trucks included, and the Ram 1500’s all-new 3.0-liter V6 EcoDiesel is currently leading the half-ton pickup truck segment. The all-new Ram 1500 EcoDiesel engine generates an impressive best-in-class 480 lb-ft of torque, offering a whopping diesel towing capability of 12,560 pounds. Plus, the 2020 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel offers a very impressive driving range of over 1000 miles on the available 33-gallon fuel tank configuration. The 2020 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel is available in all models and configurations, including a first-time offering in the Ram Rebel. Each model benefits from the increase in torque and horsepower (260hp at 3600 rpm) a 14- and 8-percent difference, respectively, from the previous generation.
Speaking of the previous generating, the EcoDiesel engine is also available on the Ram 1500 Classic model, the last-generation, the Ram 1500 model that Ram Trucks continues to sell alongside the new-gen Ram 1500. The Ram 1500 Classic EcoDiesel starts at $39,140 (plus a destination fee) with a Crew Cab and 4×2 drivetrain configuration. Now, consumers who love either generation of the Ram 1500 can enjoy all the benefits of the new 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 engine.
Let’s not forget all the other great accomplishments of the Ram truck lineup this year. Ram continues to outperform the competition and set new benchmarks for pickup trucks. The EcoDiesel V6 may have a rated best-in-class 480 lb.-ft. of torque at 1,600 rpm, but Ram trucks has the segment first 1,000 lb.-ft of torque engine with the Cummins Turbo Diesel powertrain configuration. Ram trucks are the most luxurious, like the Limited trim outfitted with real wood, real leather, and 12-inch Uconnect touchscreen; most capable full-size off-road pickup truck with the best ride and handling thanks to exclusive link coil rear and auto-level air suspensions; and the most interior space with the Ram Mega Cab. Features like this are what continue to also give Ram Trucks the highest owner loyalty of any half-ton pickup truck.
As the year comes to an end, we’re going to wrap up all the awards and accomplishments for Ram Trucks and the many vehicles in their lineup, including the Ram 1500, 2500/3500 Heavy Duty, 3500/4500/5500 Chassis Cab, ProMaster, and ProMaster City.
