When Jeep® first released the Jeep Gladiator, the auto market was thrilled. A pickup truck that is still 100-percent Jeep is what a lot of consumers have been waiting for. Who could give up the off-road capability of the Jeep brand for a truck bed? Returning for 2024 better than ever, the automaker revealed the new 2024 Jeep Gladiator at the 2023 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
“The new 2024 Jeep Gladiator epitomizes the power of the Jeep community and how it continues to push for greater capability, advanced technology and more refinement…The new Gladiator makes the best even better, with a more advanced and comfortable interior…a fresh exterior with a new seven-slot grille, seven new wheel designs and a windshield-integrated trail-ready antenna. Combine all of that with its folding windshield, three roof choices, two different door options or taking the doors off altogether, and Gladiator is the only truck in the business that can celebrate this kind of open-air freedom and still do real truck stuff.” – Jim Morrison, senior vice president and head of Jeep brand North America
Ranked as the number one vehicle among midsize trucks in the J.D. Power 2023 U.S. Initial Quality Study, the Gladiator continues to embody the true spirit of a Jeeper with best-in-class 4×4 payload, legendary Jeep 4×4 capability, open-air freedom, versatility, and personalization. Available in four trims – Sport, Willys, Mojave, and Rubicon – consumers can already put in their orders for the new 2024 Jeep Gladiator. By the end of the year, U.S. dealerships will have new lots filled with the upgraded Jeep pickup truck.
The 2024 Jeep Gladiator has unbeatable capability with four advanced 4×4 systems. These include the Command-Trac part-time transfer case featuring a 2.72:1 low range ratio and a Selec-Trac full-time transfer case featuring a 2.72:1 low range ratio. All trims levels come with an approach angle of 44.7 degrees, a breakover angle of 20.9 degrees, a departure angle of 26 degrees, and a ground clearance of 11.6 inches. If that wasn’t enough, the Gladiator is capable of water fording of up to 31.5 inches.
We couldn’t call this a pickup truck without some towing capabilities. The 2024 Jeep Gladiator has a maximum towing capability of 7,700 pounds and a best-in-class payload of 1,725 pounds. Designed for all kinds of terrain, the Gladiator comes with a Trail Rated and a Desert Rated badge. These can be attested to some serious engineering and gear, including Dana 44 heavy-duty front and rear axles, two-speed transfer case, traction control, tow hooks (two in the front, with two available in the rear), four-wheel disc brakes, three skid plates to protect the undercarriage, and a minimum tire size of 32 inches to really raise the ground clearance above small obstacles.
The 2024 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon also comes with a best-in-class 84:1 crawl ratio. That’s not all the Rubicon is packing. This trim level also includes a Rock-Trac part-time transfer case featuring a 4:1 low range ratio, and the Rock-Trac full-time transfer case for rock crawling, also featuring a 4:1 low range ratio, an electronic front sway-bar disconnect, Tru-Lok front- and rear-axle lockers, Dana 44 heavy-duty solid front and rear axles with 4.10 axle ratio, 17-inch aluminum wheels with 33-inch all-terrain tires, Red accents and tow hooks, and steel rock rails for the cab and bed corners.
Desert rated, the Gladiator Mojave is made for sandy dunes. Featuring a Command-Trac part-time transfer case with 2.72:1 4LO ratio, FOX 2.5-inch internal bypass shocks with reservoirs, FOX front hydro jounce bumpers, a 1-inch front suspension lift, Tru-Lok rear-axle locker, Dana 44 heavy-duty solid front and rear axles with 4.10 axle ratio, 17-inch aluminum wheels with 33-inch all-terrain tires, Orange accents and tow hooks, and steel rock rails for the cab, there is also some added style. The Mojave also comes with a performance hood with center scoop, a sport steering wheel, and sport seats with performance bolsters.
A little tech boost includes Off Road+ with high-speed mode for the rear locker. This allows for the consumer to adjust the throttle, transmission shift points and traction control for peak performance on sand terrain and low-speed rock crawling. The rear axle can also be locked when in 4HI.
For 2024 specifically, the Gladiator Mojave X and Gladiator Rubicon X come with a full-time transfer case, integrated off-road camera, and front and rear steel bumpers. The upgraded Gladiator Willys features a Tru-Lok rear-axle locker, and trailer tow with programmable auxiliary switches. That’s a lot of added capability for 2024.
