We’re getting closer to the end of the year, and the weather is starting to finally get a little cooler, depending on where you live. South Florida takes a little longer to cool down, but the auto industry is heating up. 2025 model-year vehicles are slowly appearing on automaker manufacturer websites, and we’re looking forward to a couple. One model, the 2025 Ram Heavy Duty pickup truck, is still running some tests, but more specs will soon be revealed. Right now, the engineering teams are testing one of the most important performance attributes of an HD truck: cooling.

2024 Stats

Powertrain

We don’t have any updates on the stats for 2025, but we’re assuming the majority of the 2500/3500 Heavy Duty will stay the same. With a 6.4-liter V8 Heavy-Duty HEMI® engine able to generate 410 horsepower and 429 lb-ft of torque, Ram Truck definitely has to make sure the cooling system is working properly, with a maximum payload of 4000 pounds, and has a maximum towing capacity of 17,730 pounds. Next up on the list for the 2500 is a 6.4-liter V8 Heavy-Duty HEMI® engine, able to generate 370 horsepower and 850 lb-ft of torque. As for the 3500, a 6.7-liter I6 Cummins HO Turbo Diesel engine is an optional upgrade, followed by a 6.7-liter I6 Cummins Turbo Diesel engine, able to generate 370 horsepower and 850 lb-ft of torque, and available on the Limited Longhorn and Limited trims.

Style

Known to be true work trucks, the Ram HD pickup models aren’t very flashy, but Ram has added some nice features over time. For instance, the 2024 Ram 2500 include automatic headlamps, a tailgate handle LED hitch lamp, a rear fixed window, and tinted glass windows and windshield glass. Past the base trim, consumers have many options to customize their HD truck, able to pick from power telescoping mirrors (standard on 3500), automatic high beams, Led tail lamps, front fog lamps, rain-sensitive windshield wipers, wheel side-steps, a Ram Box cargo management system, a tri-fold tonneau cover, and more. Inside, 4-way manually-adjustable driver’s seat and front passenger seats are the standard, but an 8-way manually-adjustable driver’s seat and front passenger seat starting with the mid-tier trim level (Laramie). Heated front seats also become available after the base trim for the 3500, past the second-tier Big Horn on the 2500.

Tech

The technology is still pretty tame starting out with a Uconnect 3 on a 5-inch touchscreen display standard, but consumers can upgrade to Uconnect 5 on an 8.4-inch touchscreen display with navigation, or a 12-inch touchscreen on many trims past the second-tier trim level. Models that come with Uconnect 5 also have access to Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto, Alexa Built-in (Wi-Fi required), a 4G LTE Wi-Fi Hotspot trial, HD Radio, Ram Connected services with Ram Connect, a SiriusXM Satellite Radio trial subscription, and steering wheel-mounted audio controls. All models come with integrated voice command.

As for safety, most HD pickup trucks are outfitted with a number of safety features for large trucks. These include ParkSense park assist with forward and reverse stop, adaptive cruise control with stop, and blind-spot and cross-path detection, full-speed forward-collision warning plus, and Lane Keep Assist. Select trims can also add surround-view camera.
