2022 Ram ProMaster City
When it comes to Ram Trucks, the automaker may be known for pickup trucks like the 1500, but they also sell vans like the Ram ProMaster and ProMaster City. Both available with all sorts of configurations and customization, lots of small businesses have found use in them, and sometimes, even entire fleets for the bigger companies. Coming back again every year, the 2022 Ram ProMaster City returns with upgraded specs.
Max. Cargo Volume
For 2022, Ram changed the lineup for the ProMaster City. Originally available in multiple trims with two models, the lineup is now just those two models – the ProMaster City Cargo Van or the Wagon. A little on the larger side, the Cargo Van offers 131.7 cubic-feet of cargo space. The ProMaster City Wagon, on the other hand, comes with 101.7 cubic-feet of space. A lot of the customization comes with Uplifts, as seen below.
Both models are powered by a 2.4-liter Tigershark MultiAir I4 engine, capable of generating a best-in-class horsepower of 178 horsepower and 174 lb-ft of torque. Paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission, both models have a fuel economy of 21 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. For the 2022 Ram ProMaster City Cargo Van, the 2,000 pounds is the maximum towing capacity, and the max payload is 1,900 pounds.
Now that it’s only two models, no trims, a lot of features come standard for the 2022 Ram ProMaster City. This means the original standards return, such as drivers and passengers vented side-windows, tinted glass, a 180-degree opening rear hinged door, remote keyless entry, and security panels for the sliding doors and rear doors – plus, power heated exterior mirrors and tinted glass windows. deep tint sunscreen glass and LED lighting up the cargo-bay area are still left as add-on options. 16-inch wheels are the standard.
A major difference between the Cargo Van and Wagon is only the Wagon can sit up to five people, along with the differences in cargo space and towing/payload capacities. Standards still include 60/40 fold and tumble rear seat, premium cloth upholstery, a cargo compartment, and a rearview day/night mirror. A heated front seat, heated passenger seat, or both heated are available options.
One special thing about the Ram ProMaster City edition is the option to add Upfits to completely customize the inside of the vehicle. With more space, the Cargo Van is able to come with six different upfits, each designed for a different purpose. Small businesses that provide services tend to use the Cargo Van for the Delivery Upfit, the HVAC Upfit, the Plumbing Upfit, or even the Telecom Upfit, all designed with the type of equipment or goods that may be used in mind. There is also the Construction Upfit and the Electrical Upfit, again, for storing equipment between locations safely and securely. The 2022 Ram ProMaster City Wagon can only come with the Delivery Upfit (pictured above).
Just because the ProMaster City is mainly used for work doesn’t mean some enjoyment can’t come out of it. Standard tech includes Uconnect 3 on a 5-inch touchscreen, integrated voice command with Bluetooth, and a 4-speaker sound system. Consumers can add GPS navigation is an available upgrade.
