Engine Types

Available in three trims, the 2022 Ram 1500 Classic Tradesman, Express, or Warlock, the powertrain is simple. Every trim comes standard with a 3.6-liter V6 engine, optimized with variable valve timing (VVT) for performance and fuel efficiency, able to generate 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque. All trims also have the option to upgrade to a 5.7-liter HEMI V8 engine, capable of generating 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque. Each trim comes with an 8-speed automatic transmission, and the last reported EPA if equipped with the V6 engine was 17 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway, 15/22 mpg city/highway with the 5.7-liter V8 HEMI engine. If equipped properly, the Tradesman and Express have a towing capacity of 4940 pounds, and the Warlock has a towing capacity of 4560 pounds.

Configuration

Able to customize based on need, each trim has a couple of different configurations available to it. The Tradesman can come with a 4×2 or 4×4 drivetrain, a Regular cab with a 6’4” box (truck bed) or 8’ box, a Crew Cab with a 6’4” or 5’7” box, or a Quad Cab with a 6’4” box. The Express can come with a 4×2 or 4×4 drivetrain, a Regular cab with a 6’4” box, Crew Cab with a 5’7” box, or a Quad Cab with a 6’4” box. The Warlock can come with a 4×2 or 4×4 drivetrain, a Crew Cab with a 5’7” box, or a Quad Cab with a 6’4” box.

Exterior Features

A work truck in the end, the upper scale features are found in the high-tier Warlock trim. This includes trailer and towing-oriented features, such as trailer-tow mirrors, exterior courtesy lamps, mirrors with turn signals, bi-function halogen projector lamps, and front LED fog lamps. Available in lineup if not standard on the 2022 Ram 1500 Classic Warlock are heated exterior mirrors, LED bed lighting, side steps (wheel-to-wheel or tubular), a rear-sliding window (power on Warlock), the RamBox Cargo Management System, a bed cargo divider/extender, a tri-fold tonneau cover, and spray-on bed liner. Standard features include tinted windshield glass and windows and automatic headlamps. The standard wheel size is 17 inches for the 2022 Ram Classic Tradesman and Express, with the Warlock riding on 20-inch wheels (available for Tradesman and Express).

Interior Features

Again, for the 2022 Ram 1500 Classic, consumers will find more convenient and comfort features in the Warlock trim. These include automatic dual-zone temperature control, heated front seats, a leather-wrapped and heated steering wheel and a power sunroof, and the option of changing the rear bench seat into a 60/40 split-fold. Some options are also available for the Express and Warlock, such as front bucket seats with 10-way power adjustable driver seats. The standard cloth and vinyl make up the upholstery with a 40/20/40 split-folding rear bench seat. A 3.5” black and white cluster display is standard, but can be upgraded to a 7” TFT color display cluster.

Entertainment

When it comes to the tech, the 2022 Ram 1500 Classic keeps the old school standards throughout the lineup. This includes Uconnect 3 on a 5” display, a six-speaker sound system, and integrated voice command with Bluetooth. The Warlock can upgrade to Uconnect 4C with navigation, and all trims can upgrade to Uconnect 5, both on an 8.4” touch screen display. If upgrading, Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto become available, and consumers can add a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot to each trim. The Warlock can also come equipped with steering-wheel mounted audio controls and a nine Alpine speaker system with a subwoofer.

Safety Features and Warranty

The 2022 Ram 1500 Classic comes with the following basic safety features – an advanced multistage front airbags, supplemental front-mounted and side-curtain airbags, traction and stability control systems, and a trailer brake controller. A ParkSense rear park assist system is available on the Warlock trim.

All Ram trucks are covered by a basic 3-year/36,000-mile warranty, a 5-year/100,000-mile diesel powertrain warranty, a 5-year/60,000-mile gas powertrain warranty, roadside assistance for 5 years or 100,000 miles, and rust-through warranty for 5 years and unlimited miles.
