2021 Ram ProMaster City

Engine Type

With only four trims, Ram makes it easy with the ProMaster City, keeping a lot of the features and equipment the same. There are two models, a cargo van or wagon, with two trims each – a Tradesman or an SLT. Regardless, a 2.4-liter Tigershark MultiAir I4 engine is under the hood, capable of generating a best-in-class horsepower of 178 horsepower and 174 lb-ft of torque. All trims come tied to a nine-speed automatic transmission.

Engineering

Made for heavy payloads and carrying cargo around, the ProMaster City also offers decent fuel economy for a van or wagon. The current EPA rating is 21 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. These specs may change depending on whether or not the van or wagon is using its max payload and/or towing capacity. The 2021 Ram ProMaster City can carry up to 1886 pounds of cargo, with a max towing capacity of 2000 pounds.

Exterior Features

Made more for commercial jobs and hard work, the ProMaster city isn’t obsessed with style. Consumers will find many great features standard however. These include drivers and passengers vented side-windows, tinted glass, a 180-degree opening rear hinged door, remote keyless entry, and security panels for the sliding doors and rear doors. Select trims also offer other options, deep tint sunscreen glass, power heated exterior mirrors, adjustable roof rack crossbars, roof rack side rails, and a three-bar utility roof rack. The standard wheel size is 16-inches.

Interior Features

Don’t let the exterior fool you – the interior is what consumers make of it. Starting with a maximum cargo capacity of 131.7 cubic-feet, the ProMaster City is made to sit a driver and front-passenger, but the various Upfits available can change that. Aside from this, other standard options include a 60/40 fold and tumble rear seat, cloth upholstery, a cargo compartment, and a rearview day/night mirror. If looking for added convenience, some trims offer LED cargo area lighting, heated front seats, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.

Upfits

As we’ve mentioned, an Upfit can completely change the interior of a Ram ProMaster City. This is because it can be anything from a delivery service van to a mass-transit passenger system. There are Upfits for organizing tools and equipment or products, turn into a mobile office, or an all-industrial business.

Entertainment

Again, placing a focus on the work side of things, the 2021 Ram ProMaster City comes with Uconnect 3 on a 5-inch touchscreen, integrated voice command with Bluetooth, and a 4-speaker sound system. GPS NAV is an available upgrade, along with a RAM telematics system. Steering wheel-mounted controls can be found on the SLT trims.
