That’s why when truck drivers and businesses need an easy to drive work truck, many turn to the Ram 2500. With the recent addition of the Power Wagon, the 2500 is also becoming known for its off-road game in 2021.
6.7L Cummins Turbo Diesel

For 2021, six trims make up the 2021 Ram 2500 HD lineup – Tradesman, Big Horn, Laramie, Power Wagon, Limited Longhorn, and Limited. All trucks made for heavy workloads, the standard engine is a 6.4-liter V8 Heavy Duty HEMI engine, optimized with a multi-displacement system (MDS), because why can’t a work truck also have decent fuel economy? This engine generates a best-in-class horsepower of 410 and 429 lb-ft of torque. Available on all trims but the Power Wagon is a 6.7-liter Cummins turbo Diesel engine, known for generating 370 horsepower and 850 lb-ft of torque.
All six trims come standard with an 8-speed automatic, but if less is more, every trim except for the Power Wagon may come with a six-speed automatic transmission. If properly equipped, the maximum towing capacity for the 2021 Ram 2500 HD pickup truck is 17,540 pounds with the HEMI V8 engine, and 19,680 pounds with the Cummins Turbo Diesel engine. The standard towing capacity on the Tradesman trim with the HEMI V8 is 15,040 pounds. All trims may come with either a 4×2 drivetrain or 4×4 drivetrain, except for the Power Wagon, locked into a 4×4 drivetrain.
Because this is a true work truck, the 2021 Ram 2500 comes with just as many features standard as it does available. Exterior heated mirrors with turn signals are standard on all trims, along with trailer tow mirrors (available on the Tradesman). Automatic headlamps are also standard and LED taillamps are also standard. For a little convenience, select trims come with exterior mirrors with memory available, automatic headlamps, LED bed lighting, and LED interior lighting, rain-sensitive windshield wipers available on all trims, and some form of side steps are available on all trims.
Acoustic glass on the windshield and front door glass, tinted glass tint windows, and a rear power sliding door comes standard on select trims past the Laramie. Some form of side steps is available on all trims, and the RamBox Cargo Management System is available on all trims after the Laramie, but not available on the Limited trim. Other features like a locking tailgate, a tri-fold tonneau cover, tow hooks, and other features available on trucks can be found available on many trims. The 2021 Ram 2500 rides on either 17-, 18-, or 20-inch wheels.
Vinyl is the standard upholstery with cloth available on the Tradesman and then standard on the rest of the lineup. For cargo and seating configuration, all trims come with a split-bench, with a 40/20/40 on all trims up to the Power Wagon, and a 60/40 split-fold on the Limited Longhorn and Limited trims. Many convenient features also pop up in the interior.
Bucket seats become available starting with the Big Horn (skipping the Power Wagon). Creature comforts such as heated front seats also start with the Big Horn trim, and ventilated front seats and heated second row seats start with the Laramie trim. All of these aforementioned features are standard on the Limited Longhorn and Limited trims. Automatic dual-zone temperature control Is standard in select trims, available in others.
Although a work truck, the 2021 Ram 2500 offers many technology features. It all starts with Uconnect 3 on a 5-inch display as the standard, but truck lovers would be missing out on Uconnect 4 on an 8.4-inch display, available on the Tradesman and Big Horn, standard on the Laramie and Power Wagon. Available with 4C Nav on the Laramie and Power Wagon, standard on the Limited, a 12-inch touchscreen is also available on all trims past and including the Laramie, with Uconnect on this new 12-inch touchscreen standard on the Limited trim.
Regardless, voice command with Bluetooth is a lineup standard. Steering wheel mounted audio controls, Google Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay come with all trims that upgrade to at least Uconnect 4. HD Radio and a 4G LTE Wi-Fi Hotspot become available on the Laramie trim, standard on the Limited Longhorn and Limited trims. A 4-speaker sound system is standard on the Tradesman, a six-speaker sound system is standard on the Big Horn and Power Wagon, a nine Alpine speaker system is standard on the Laramie, Limited Longhorn, and Limited, with a 17 speaker Harman Kardon premium sound system available on select trims.
Safety Features and Warranty
The 2021 Ram 2500 comes with many basic safety features, including an advanced multistage front airbags, supplemental front-mounted and side-curtain airbags, traction and stability control systems, a ParkView backup camera, and ParkSense park assist with forward and reverse stop. Available and advanced safety features include blind-spot and cross-path detection, full-speed forward-collision warning plus, Lane Keep Assist, and a surround-view camera.
All-new Ram trucks are covered by a basic 3-year/36,000-mile warranty, a 5-year/100,000-mile diesel powertrain warranty, a 5-year/60,000-mile gas powertrain warranty, roadside assistance for 5 years or 100,000 miles, and rust-through warranty for 5 years and unlimited miles. Coverage also includes free towing to the nearest Ram Truck dealer, if necessary, and coverage is transferable.
