2021 Jeep Renegade
The Jeep Renegade may not be the original 4×4, but it is the off-road vehicle made to dominate the trails and rocky roads. Celebrating 80 years, Jeep models have added a special edition to the new lineup. Check out the 2021 Jeep Renegade and why Jeep has been the go-to off-road automaker for more than half a century.
Avail. Engine Type
Keeping the lineup tight for 2021, the Jeep Renegade comes down to eight trims – Sport, Jeepster, Latitude, Upland 4×4, 80th Anniversary, Islander, Limited 4×4, and Trailhawk 4×4. The standard engine on all Renegade trims up to and including the Islander is a 2.4-liter Zero Evap I4 Multi-Air engine. Optimized with its own brand of variable valve timing (VVT) for better performance and fuel efficiency, this engine generates 180 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque. Available on the Latitude and 80th Anniversary, standard on the Limited and Trailhawk 4×4 is a 1.3-liter I4 turbocharged MAir engine with electric start-stop technology. This engine generates a total of 177 horsepower and 210 lb-ft of torque.
All trims without “4×4” in the name comes with front-wheel drive (FWD) as a default but can change to 4×4. Doing this will add on the Jeep Select-Terrain Traction Management System, able to drive on snow, sand, or mud. The Trailhawk comes with its own Rock Mode for rock-crawling adventures. Every engine comes paired up with a nine-speed automatic transmission, and the following EPA ratings are based on the default drivetrain of each trim. When powered by the 2.4-liter I4 engine, the 2021 Jeep Renegade has a fuel economy of 22 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway for the Sport, Jeepster, Latitude, 80th Anniversary, and Islander. The 2021 Jeep Renegade Upland 4×4, locked into 4×4, has a fuel economy of 21/29 mpg city/highway with the same engine. The 2021 Jeep Renegade Limited 4×4 has a fuel economy of 23 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway, and the Trailhawk 4×4 has a fuel economy of 22/27 mpg city/highway.
As with all Jeep vehicles, standard features are sprinkled throughout with most upscale features appearing in the high-end trims. All trims come with heated exterior mirrors, a rear window wiper/washer, and deep-tint sunscreen class (solar control glass on Sport trim). Roof rails and splash guards are offered on a variety of trims for customizing and adding on more off-road capability to a Jeep Renegade. The 2021 Renegade Latitude has automatic headlamps and ambient LED interior lighting, and these features skip the Upland 4×4 but continue to be standard on the rest of the trims from and including the 80th Anniversary edition. Other features, such as bi-function LED projector lamps and LED cornering fog lamps, LED taillamps, and rain-sensitive windshield wipers follow this pattern. Depending on the trim, 16-, 17-, or 19-inch wheels will be the standard, but the option to upgrade is available on the Sport and Limited trims.
The interior cabin of the 2021 Jeep Renegade follows the same trend as the exterior, with keeping many of the creature comforts on higher end trims. The main two lineup standards are a 60/40 split-folding rear seat and automatic dual-zone temperature control. Aside from that, cloth upholstery is the standard, with premium cloth on the Latitude, and leather on the Limited and Trailhawk. A 40/20/40 rear seat with a trunk pass-thru is available on the Latitude, 80th Anniversary, Limited, and Trailhawk. Continuing this pattern, an 8-way power adjustable driver seat, heated front seats, leather or premium wrapped steering wheel, and a heated steering wheel standard, with a dual-pane panoramic sunroof available on these trims
A little reprieve from keeping everything simple, lineup standards include Uconnect 4 on a 7-inch display for the Sport, Jeepster, Latitude, Upland, and Islander; Uconnect 4C Nav on an 8.4-inch display standard on the 80th Anniversary, Limited, and Trailhawk trims (optional on the Latitude). All trims come with Google Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, SiriusXM radio, integrated voice command with Bluetooth, and steering wheel mounted audio controls. HD Radio is available on the Latitude trim, standard on the 80th Anniversary, Limited, and Trailhawk trims. Following this pattern, a six-speaker sound system is the lineup standard, but these trims may also opt-in for a Keywood premium audio system.
