2019 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk Trims
Jeep Trailhawk trims are sometimes the most popular among an entire lineup. The off-road capability offered by Jeep 4×4 systems is above all else. Plus, nearly every Jeep model has a Trailhawk trim, and this week, we’re looking at the 2019 Jeep Cherokee. Coming out with two Trailhawk models, the Trailhawk and Trailhawk Elite, the new model-year for the Jeep Cherokee offers 4×4 performance and choices.
Active Drive Lock
Standard 4×4 System
Both Trailhawk trims on the 2019 Jeep Cherokee, the regular Trailhawk and Trailhawk Elite, are powered by a 3.2-liter V6 engine optimized with Variable Valve Timing (VVT) technology. Any engine designed with VVT has the frequency of its engine’s cylinders valve-lift events altered to generate more power quickly. This engine generates 271 horsepower and 239 lb-ft of torque, and paired to a nine-speed automatic transmission, both trims have a combined fuel economy of 21 mpg.
Two Jeep 4×4 systems can be found powering the off-road capability of the 2019 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk and Trailhawk Elite. One is Jeep Active Drive II, a “full-time” 4×4 system that will automatically engage four-wheel-drive mode when driving conditions call for it, and adds a low range and neutral mode for added capability, such as low-speed traction and flat towing. The second 4×4 system is Active Drive Lock, which contains all of the above, plus a mechanical rear axle lock function and comes with the exclusive Rock mode for Jeeps’ Selec-Terrain® Traction Management System.
Although the two 2019 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk trims are exactly the same so far, here’s where things change. Standard exterior features on both trims are automatic headlamps; LED daytime running headlamps, fog lamps, low/high beam headlamps, and tail lamps for lighting. The Trailhawk Elite has the option to upgrade to automatic high beam headlamp control that turns the high beams on in dark conditions and back off when oncoming traffic approaches.
In terms of convenience, both have heated exterior mirrors with integrated turn signals and a rear window wiper. Consumers of the Trailhawk Elite may opt-in for rain-sensitive windshield wipers, and comes standard with exterior mirrors with memory, a foot-activated hands-free power liftgate, and a windshield wiper de-icer. Both trims may opt-in for a CommandView® Dual-Pane Panoramic Sunroof and ride on 17-inch polished aluminum wheels.
The interior of the 2019 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk trims share a similar pattern. Standard in both trims is a powered 8-way driver adjustable seat, a 6-way adjustable manual passenger seat, front seat active headrests, rear seat heat ducts, and a rear 60/40 split-folding bench seat. Consumers of the Cherokee Trailhawk Elite also get driver and passenger powered 4-way lumbar adjustment in the seat, power adjustable driver and passenger seats, heated front seats, memory settings for the radio, driver seat, and exterior mirrors, leather trimmed bucket seats, and ventilated front seats.
For convenience, both Cherokee Trailhawk trims come with dual-zone automatic a/c temperature control, all-weather floor mats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear shift knob, a full-length floor console and overhead console, storage for media electronics, a Stop/Start Multiple Voltage Stabilization Module (VSM) System helps reduce fuel consumption and emissions, and more. Both trims may opt-in for an active noise control system.
Being towards the high-end of the 2019 Jeep Cherokee lineup, the Cherokee Trailhawk and Cherokee Trailhawk Elite come with Uconnect 4 on an 8.4-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto capabilities, a six-speaker system, integrated voice command with Bluetooth, SiriusXM Satellite Radio for a year, and steering wheel-mounted audio controls. Consumers of either may opt in for Uconnect 4C to mirror their smartphone screens onto their vehicle touchscreen, GPS Navigation, and HD Radio. The Cherokee Trailhawk Elite is also available with a nine amplified speaker system with a subwoofer.
