2019 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid
The Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid, model car for the Google self-driving Waymo project, is going into the 2019 model year. Not a whole lot has changed for this plug-in hybrid minivan, the technology is mostly the same and the powertrain still works wonders. Take a look at the Pacifica Hybrid.
Electric Mile Driving Range
Total Driving Range
Being a plug-in hybrid minivan, the 2019 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid is powered by a 3.6-liter V6 engine and a 16 kWh lithium-ion battery powering an electric motor. The driver can choose to drive on either power source or both in tandem due to the large battery size. With regenerative braking, a process that redirects energy expended when braking to a generator that recharges the onboard battery, the MPGe, or miles-per-gallon equivalent for a hybrid vehicle, stands at 84 MPGe give or take. Able to drive solely on electricity, the Pacifica Hybrid can travel 33 miles without releasing a single emission and has a total driving range of 566 miles when using both, the engine and electric motor. Power is directed to the wheels via an eFlite Si-EVT Transmission system.
There are three methods for recharging the lithium-ion battery to reach a full charge. The most popular is a 120-volt outlet, the same any consumer can plug an electrical appliance into, but for a faster charge in as little as two hours, consumers can opt-in for an available 240-volt Level II charger installation for use at home. Most plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) reach 80-percent in a half hour. Then there are public charging stations, some of which can be found in plazas and garages reserved for PHEVs and electric vehicles (EVs). Apps like PlugShare can help wary drivers find a charging station in no time, and many PHEVs and EVs are coming with their own similar apps pre-installed.
Style hasn’t changed much since its release – exterior features include automatic on/off headlamps, heated exterior mirrors, premium fog lamps, LED taillamps and daytime running headlamps, power sliding doors on the driver and passenger side with fixed glass, and laminated front door glass to minimize interior noise levels and interference from noise outside the vehicle such as wind are all still lineup standard features. Optional features, like rear and front splash guards are available, along with a chrome Stow ‘n Place roof rack, and a power liftgate. The standard wheels for the 2019 Pacifica Hybrid are 17-inch polished aluminum wheels (optional for Touring L), but consumers have the option to upgrade to 18-inch polished aluminum or black-noise painted wheels.
Due to the large battery, the 2019 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid loses the second-row Stow ‘n Go seating, only available in the third-row, and the second row only has Captain’s Chairs, decreasing the seating capacity from eight to seven. Easy entry second row slide, triple-zone automatic climate control, an acoustic windshield, keyless enter-n-go, a power 8-way driver seat, remote keyless entry for all doors, sunscreen glass, are all lineup standard features. Select trims consist of leather upholstery, ventilated and heated front seats, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, KeySense technology and a remote start system.
A six-speaker system is standard for the Hybrid Touring Plus and Touring L trims, but the Touring L has the option of a 13-Alpine speaker system, and the Hybrid Limited gets a 20-speaker Harman Kardon premium audio sound system and 3-channel wireless headphones. An 8.4-inch touchscreen is the lineup standard, and all trims have Google Android Auto and Apple CarPlay capability, HD Radio, steering wheel mounted audio controls, and Bluetooth with voice command. A 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot is optional on the Touring Plus and Touring L, standard on the Limited. Select trims have the option of adding an Overhead DVD player by Mopar, seat back video screens, Uconnect 4C with navigation, Uconnect Theatre with wireless streaming, a Blu-Ray/DVD player, SiriusXM Traffic, and Travel Link.
Safety Features and Warranty
Advanced multistage front airbags, a drivers knee airbag and a passengers knee airbag, supplemental front seat mounted side and side-curtain airbags, a ParkView backup camera, an occupant classification system, a pedestrian warning speaker, a LATCH ready child seat anchor system, and a security alarm are all included as standard safety features. Advanced safety features available include a 360-degree surround view camera system, blind spot monitoring and rear cross path detection, full speed warning with collision warning plus, lane departure warning plus, Parallel and Perpendicular Park Assist, and ParkSense with (front and or) rear park assist with stop.
Each Chrysler Pacifica is backed by a 3-year or 36,000-mile basic warranty, and a 5-year or 60,000-mile limited powertrain warranty. The battery in the Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid has a 10-year/150,000-mile limited warranty or a 10-year/100,000-mile limited warranty, which varies from state-to-state.
