2018 Ram ProMaster
The Ram ProMaster cargo van is in its 2018 model year, and it’s still as powerful and versatile as ever. Not just for carrying cargo around town, the ProMaster and its counterpart, ProMaster City, can be transformed for a number of reasons. All it takes is a little imagination and the personal, business, and commercial possibilities start stacking up. The Ram ProMaster also has best-in-class fuel economy, cargo, and payload ratings, proving its a reliable top contender.

When it comes to the trims of the 2018 Ram ProMaster, things are a little different. Aside from the three types of vans (cargo, window, and cutaway), they also have a difference in roof height and wheelbase lengths. The ProMaster 1500 is available with a low roof when it has a 118” wheelbase or a 136” wheelbase, and the high roof is only an option with a 136” wheelbase. The ProMaster 2500 is only available with a high roof and the options of a 136” wheelbase or a 159” wheelbase. The ProMaster 3500 is only available with a high roof and 159” wheelbase configuration, but there is also an extended variation available.
There is one engine option that powers the lineup of the 2018 Ram ProMaster van. The standard engine found throughout the lineup is the popular 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine, paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission. The engine features variable valve timing (VVT) technology, an engine technology used by many brands to optimize an engine’s capabilities. The Ram ProMaster can generate up to 280 horsepower and has a max towing capacity of 5,100 pounds and a max payload of 4,440 pounds.
When it comes to style, most 2018 ProMaster cargo vans are fairly uniform. They’re mostly all cargo vans with a regular cab and several window and door configurations. The van comes standard with a sliding passenger side door without glass and rear hinged doors with a 260-degree opening for maximum access. The window on the sliding door can be fixed or deleted altogether, and the rear doors are available with factory installed tinted glass. The driver’s side sliding door can also come with or without windows.
Some convenient features have also been integrated into the van, such as deep tint sunscreen glass to keep glare from obstructing the driver’s vision, heated exterior mirrors, side wall cargo tie-down rings, and an underslung tire carrier. All trims ride on 16-inch wheels outfitted with all-season tires. Consumers can pick one of nine colors for personalization, and the van comes with a dark gray grille but it can be swapped out for a chrome grille depending on the trim.
The interior of the 2018 Ram ProMaster can be changed up in many ways to fit the driver’s needs. Standard features are minimal with cloth upholstery, 4-way adjustable driver and passenger seat, rear speaker wiring prep so drivers can add extra aftermarket speakers, a rearview day/night mirror, a trip computer, and a cargo lamp. If looking for more convenience features, there are many available upgrades. They consist of leather or vinyl upholstery, heated seats, swivel and double seats, underseat storage, a floor cargo compartment, a cargo net, an interior cargo rack package with strong, lightweight fixed shelving, LED light bars in the cargo area, window grates, and spray-on floor liner.
When it comes to storing cargo and equipment, the cargo bay is pretty spacious. The cargo floor length ranges from 105.1”-160.2”, and the maximum cargo width ranges from 55.8”-75.6” when factoring in the wheel wells. Of course, all of this can change depending on the rear configuration of a Ram ProMaster.
The best part about the Ram ProMaster is the available upfits that transform the van’s cargo area into an organized area for tools and equipment or products that need to be delivered to customers. To help shoppers envision how an upfit can help their business, customers have the ability to see a virtual setup of the upfit with the Ram Upfit Configurator. With that, consumers can clearly see all the possibilities the Ram ProMaster offers, especially for their business with BusinessLink.
Each of the available upfits have unique features that make mobile jobs easy. Whether a ProMaster is needed for heavy-duty work like forestry or agriculture, or something more local like a newsroom on wheels or a delivery company, the Ram ProMaster has designs that are efficient and durable. The Ram ProMaster is available with a number of different upfits depending on the vehicle’s rear configuration. The Ram ProMaster cargo can is available with a trades interior upfit, mobile office interior upfit and delivery interior upfit. The Ram ProMaster chassis cab is available with a platform upfit or a box van upfit, and the Ram ProMaster cutaway van is available with a service upfit or a box van upfit.
Fairly simple in terms of entertainment, the standard setup is a 4-speaker system with a 5-inch touchscreen display, integrated voice command with Bluetooth, a media hub, Uconnect 3, and steering wheel mounted audio controls. Adding SiriusXM Satellite Radio for a year and upgrading to Uconnect 3 with navigation are optional across the lineup. Consumers may want to check upfits and make use of the rear speaker wiring for custom setups.
