2018 Dodge Journey
If looking at the Dodge brand and in the market for a sports utility vehicle (SUV), then you’re in the right place. At Aventura CJDR, we specialize in new and used Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, and Ram truck vehicles. The 2018 Dodge Journey is one of our popular SUVs, combining the thrill of adventure with the convenience of technology for long road trips. Come on over and take a look at what this SUV can offer.
Avail. Engine Type
Avail. Fuel Economy
There are four trims on the 2018 Dodge Journey – SE, SXT, Crossroad, and GT. All four trims are available with front-wheel drive (FWD) or all-wheel-drive (AWD). There are two engines – a 2.4-liter I4 DOHC engine with dual variable valve timing (VVT) technology and a 3.6-liter V6 engine with VVT; the latter is the standard on all engines if riding on AWD. The 2.4-liter engine can generate 173 horsepower and 166 lb-ft of torque, and is standard on all trims (with a FWD) but the Journey GT.
The Journey GT trim, powered by the 3.6-liter V6 engine on either drivetrain, can generate 283 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. Both engines are optimized with VVT, a process that alters the frequency of an engine cylinders valve lift event during the intake of air/fuel and exhaust of fumes. Think the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon. It has VVT going at a high frequency for the highest level of performance possible. The same has been done for the 2018 Dodge Journey, but with a lower frequency hence the low horsepower.
Driving and Handling
The 2018 Dodge Journey comes standard with an excellent automatic transmission that features AutoStick technology, a driver-interactive transaxle shifter that provides clutchless manual shifting. Standard on the Journey SE, SXT, and Crossroads trims is a 4-speed automatic transmission. Standard on the Journey GT and optional on the Journey SXT and Crossroads trims is a 6-speed automatic transmission. If equipped with AWD, all Journey trims come standard with a 6-speed automatic transmission.
When driving on FWD, the Journey SE, SXT, and Crossroads all have the same fuel economy – 19 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway. The Journey GT has a fuel economy of 17/25 mpg city/highway. If equipped with AWD, all trims get 16 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway.
Standard on the 2018 Dodge Journey, consumers will find the following on any trim – automatic headlamps, back-up lamps, halogen quad headlamps, heated exterior mirrors, a rear window defroster and wiper, and a removable short mast antenna. Select trims have aesthetic changes like black headlamps or tail lamps, black exterior mirrors versus body color, dual bright exhaust tips, and badges and decals for distinct trims. Convenient features found on select trims consist of splash guards and door sill guards by Mopar for those planning to get their Dodge Journey a little muddy, and black side roof rails for exterior cargo storage. 2018 Dodge Journeys ride on 17- or 19-inch wheels, available in various styles.
Standard features found in the 2018 Dodge Journey consist of easy entry system seating, low-bucket seats, cloth upholstery, rear folding seat, a second-row 40/40 tilt and slide seat and a third row 50/50 folding seat, dual zone temperature control, driver and passenger LED lamps, second-row in-floor storage bins, a liftgate flood lamp, sunscreen glass to keep the cabin from heating up, and front and rear floor mats for those muddy trips. Select trims have some upgrades, such as leather upholstery, a 6-way power adjustable driver’s seat, a leather wrapped steering wheel and gear shift knob, and an overhead console. Some of the convenient features one may find on a trim are triple zone automatic temperature control, an auto-dimming rear view mirror, a heated steering wheel, and heated front seats.
Standard on the 2018 Dodge Journey SE and SXT trims is a 4.3-inch touchscreen display, but an 8.4-inch touchscreen is available for the SXT trim, standard on the Journey Crossroads and GT trims. A 6-speaker system makes up the audio system for all but the Journey GT trim that comes with a six premium Alpine speaker system with a subwoofer. Those with a 4.3-inch touch screen come with a standard radio system, but can be upgraded to also have SiriusXM Satellite Radio for a year.
Uconnect 3 with navigation is optional on the Journey Crossroads and GT trims, and without navigation it’s standard on the Journey Crossroads and GT trims, optional on the Journey SXT. Uconnect voice command with Bluetooth is standard on the Journey Crossroads and GT trims, optional on the Journey SE and SXT trims. All trims have steering wheel-mounted audio controls.
