2018 Dodge Grand Caravan
Considered as “The Mother of All Minivans” by Dodge, the 2018 Dodge Grand Caravan is not only amazing, but it is also one of the most affordable minivans on the market. After more than 30 years of production, the Dodge Grand Caravan offers a variety of standard convenience features, like the Stow ‘n Go Seating and Storage System and class-exclusive tailgate seating – which is only exclusive to the Dodge Grand Caravan. In addition to the seating features, the Dodge Grand Caravan is standard equipped with excellent towing capacities, thanks to its powerful engine.
Avail. Engine Type
The 2018 Dodge Grand Caravan is offered in three trims – SE, SE Plus, SXT. All three trim levels share a 3.6-liter V6 24-Valve engine that is paired to a six-speed automatic transmission and a heavy duty transmission oil cooler. The Dodge Grand Caravan produces 283 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque, which helps it achieve a maximum towing capacity of 3,600 pounds. The Dodge Grand Caravan has an average fuel economy of 17 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway, which is ideal for a seven passenger vehicle.
Additional standard mechanical features include, anti-lock four-wheel heavy duty disc brakes, engine oil cooler, heavy duty radiator and power rack-and-pinion steering, which assist in maintaining directional stability while on the highway and allows for a tighter turning diameter for parking.
The 2018 Dodge Grand Caravan’s interior cabin is incredibly spacious and it is equipped with a number of convenience features. Exclusive to FCA, one of the most admired features on the Dodge Grand Caravan is the Stow ‘n Go Seating and Storage System, which is standard on all Grand Caravan trims. Stow ‘n Go seats allow consumers to fold the second-row and/or third-row seats into a storage compartment that’s built into the floor. The in-floor compartments can also be utilized as additional cargo space – when it is not being used to store the seats, of course.
Additionally, the Dodge Grand Caravan SXT features tailgate seats in the vehicle’s third-row, which means the seats can be rotated 180 degrees to point toward the back of the vehicle. The interior cabin has 140.3 cubic feet of potential cargo space only when the second and third-row seats are folded down.
The Dodge Grand Caravan is an economical and versatile minivan. All Grand Caravan models have a lot of the same interior convenience features like a 12-volt auxiliary power outlet, 12-volt DC front and rear power outlets, three-zone manual temperature control and easy clean floor mats plus floor and cargo area carpets. Standard features offered only on the premium SXT trim includes a super console, left and right power sliding doors with the optional features of left and right second row window shades. The only optional feature shared by all three trims is the remote USB port – charge only.
The Dodge Grand Caravan SE Plus and SXT features the Plus Package with the all-new Blacktop Appearance Package. After its debut in 2014, the Blacktop Appearance Package features an all-black interior throughout the Grand Caravan’s cabin – the door panels, headliner and console included. Premium cloth seats with silver accent stitching, leather wrapped steering wheel and shift knobs are also included in the appearance package.
Each Dodge Grand Caravans has different wheel features. For instance, the Grand Caravan SE is equipped with 17-inch steel wheels. The Grand Caravan SE Plus rides on 17-inch polished, gloss black aluminum wheels and the Grand Caravan SXT has 17-inch tech silver aluminum wheels. However, all three Grand Caravan trims come standard with 225/65R17 BSW touring tires plus a tire carrier winch and an optional compact spare tire.
Fortunately for consumers, most convenience features are shared by all three of the Dodge Grand Caravans trim levels. Some of these features include body-color door handles, body-color fascias, fixed long mast antenna, power heated exterior mirrors with manual fold-away, rear window defroster and rear window wiper and washer. Optional features include black side roof rails, door sill guards by Mopar (only on SE Plus and SXT), gloss black grille and rear fascia scuff pad are standard on the Grand Caravan SE Plus but optional on the Grand Caravan SXT.
Exterior lighting features include daytime running lamps – shared by all three trims. The SE trim is only standard with halogen quad headlamps while the automatic headlamps and fog lamps are standard only on the Grand Caravan SE Plus and Grand Caravan SXT.
The Dodge Grand Caravans infotainment system delivers innovative technology and accommodates perfectly to those long road trips with the kids. Standard features shared by the Grand Caravan SE, SE Plus and SXT trim levels include 40GB hard drive with 28GB available, 6.5-inch touchscreen display paired with 6 speakers, radio 430, steering wheel mounted audio controls and an audio jack input for mobile devices. Shared optional features include, high definition multimedia interface, second row overhead 9-inch VGA video screen, second row overhead DVD console, single DVD entertainment, video remote control and wireless headphones. Furthermore, optional features offered only on the SE Plus and SXT trims include a five-year SiriusXM travel link service, garmin navigation system, radio 430 navigation, and a SiriusXM travel link five-year travel link.
