VVT is an engine technology that optimizes performance, and ESS is designed to conserve fuel by turning off the engine when idling. This engine is optimized a bit, built with VVT and a multi-displacement system (MDS) to conserve fuel economy by deactivating four-of-the-eight cylinders when cruising at a steady speed.
