The Dodge Durango lineup consists of seven trims, the SXT, SXT Plus, GT, Citadel, R/T, Citadel Anodized Platinum, and SRT. All trims but the Durango SRT are available with rear-wheel drive (RWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD); the Durango SRT is only available with AWD.

3.6L V6 Engine
The standard engine on the majority of Durango trims is the popular Pentastar 3.6-Liter V6 24-Valve engine, that is able to generate 295 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. The engine is designed with variable valve timing (VVT) and electronic start-stop (ESS). VVT is an engine technology that optimizes performance, and ESS is designed to conserve fuel by turning off the engine when idling. When powered by the V6 engine, the 2018 Dodge Durango has a maximum towing capacity of 6200 pounds.
5.7L HEMI V8 Engine
The 2018 Dodge Durango R/T (optional on the Citadel and Citadel Anodized Platinum trims) is equipped with a 5.7 liter V8 HEMI® engine that delivers 360 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque. This engine is optimized a bit, built with VVT and a multi-displacement system (MDS) to conserve fuel economy by deactivating four-of-the-eight cylinders when cruising at a steady speed. The 5.7L HEMI V8 engine gives the Dodge Durango a maximum towing capacity of 7,400 pounds.

The most powerful engine on the Dodge Durango lineup is reserved for the Dodge Durango SRT, which is powered by the 6.4L V8 SRT HEMI engine with MDS. The 6.4L engine generates 475 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque, and it makes the Dodge Durango SRT America’s fastest and most capable three-row SUV. The Durango SRT accelerates from 0-60 mph in 4.4 seconds and completes a quarter-mile in 12.9 seconds. Not only is the Durango SRT fast, but it is super powerful, too. The 2018 Dodge Durango SRT has a best-in-class maximum towing capacity of 8,700 pounds.
Driving and Handling
Interestingly enough, all 2018 Dodge Durango trims come standard with an 8-speed automatic transmission; no manual transmissions on this SUV. Also a little nifty, the steering wheel for all trims but the SRT come with a Sport Mode for a more responsive driving experience. When it comes to fuel economy, it varies with each engine. Trims that come standard with the 3.6-liter V6 get 18 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway. The Durango R/T as well as trims that are upgraded with the 5.7-liter V8 engine have a fuel economy of 14/22 mpg city/highway.
All 2018 Dodge Durango trims come standard with automatic headlamps, LED tail lamps, an acoustic windshield, and heated exterior mirrors. For a little more convenience, from the 2018 Dodge Durango GT trim onward, consumers can find exterior mirrors with memory and turn signals, and a power liftgate. Black roof rails and integrated roof rail crossbars come on select trims. The 2018 Dodge Durango rides on 18- or 20-inch wheels, and the wheels are available in various styles.
