2017 Dodge Grand Caravan Specs
The Dodge Grand Caravan enters another year with its 2017 model. It’s still the great family minivan that it was over the years, and the fifth generation design seems to be a keeper. The 2017 Grand Caravan lineup was trimmed down to four trims, but that’s not a problem. With nothing to fix, and less to focus on, Dodge only made the remaining four trims better. With all the new technology being introduced to many Dodge models, you can bet the Grand Caravan isn’t missing out on what’s new.

Avail. Engine Type
Avail. Highway Fuel Economy
One sole engine powers the entire lineup of the 2017 Dodge Caravan – the award-winning Pentastar 3.6-liter V6 engine with VVT technology. Generating up to 283 horsepower, and designed with Variable Valve Timing (VVT), this engine has been tinkered with for optimal performance. VVT is the process of altering the timing of intake/exhaust valve events of an engine’s cylinders and the design is aimed at improving engine power and fuel economy. The fuel economy for the 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan is 17/25 mpg city/highway.
Driving and Handling
Paired to a 6-speed AutoStick automatic transmission, drivers have no need to worry about switching gears. But wait, “AutoStick,” what’s that? Developed by Chrysler, this type of automatic transmission allows the driver to manually select gears while driving, offering the choice of a manual transmission within an automatic transmission jacket. If no driver input is detected, gears will still switch automatically for the proper gear ratio respective of the vehicle’s speed.
Returning to the 2017 model is the always-so-helpful sliding passenger- and driver-side doors, standard across the four trims. A power liftgate is available on the Grand Caravan SXT and GT trims, and so are automatic headlamps. For driving visibility, all trims get power heated exterior mirrors and a rear window wiper/washer.
If driving through muddy areas frequently, think about adding on the optional splash guards by Mopar. Also take a look at the options available with 17-inch wheels. The Grand Caravan SE and SE Plus trims have BSW Touring tires, and the Grand Caravan SXT and GT trims have BSW All-Season tires.
A 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan wouldn’t be complete with Stow ‘n Go seating. Stow ‘n Go seating makes it possible for users to fold down the second- and third-row seats and store them into built-in floor storage compartments. The third-row is also a 60/40 split-fold bench. Together, Stow ‘n Go seating and the split-fold bench open all kinds of seating configurations to store cargo and equipment. Cloth is the standard trim for the interior, but the Grand Caravan SXT and GT trims have leather.
To keep things cool, three-zone (driver, passenger, and rear) temperature control is standard in all trims, with the Grand Caravan GT having an automatic system. Standard in all but the base trim, the Grand Caravan SE, is an auto-dimming rear view mirror with a microphone for the integrated voice command Bluetooth. Sunscreen glass is standard for all trims to keep the cabin and passengers from getting too hot, and the Grand Caravan GT has heated front and second-row seats, and a heated steering wheel. The entire lineup (not the Grand Caravan SE) has a leather-wrapped shift-knob and leather-wrapped steering wheel.
There are so many ways to stay entertained in the 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan, it’s almost sick. Standard across the lineup is a six-speaker system and a 6.5-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth streaming audio (optional on Grand Caravan SE). The Grand Caravan GT gets a better sound system with nine amplified speakers with a subwoofer. Steering wheel mounted audio controls have been integrated for the entire lineup.
All but the base trim have immediate access to Uconnect voice command with Bluetooth as a standard (optional on the Grand Caravan SE). An option on all trims is a single DVD entertainment system, a second-row overhead nine-inch VGA video screen, or a second-row overhead DVD console. A great combo for the kids is to get the Uconnect Multimedia HD interface and VGA screen for connecting game consoles and controllers. Get some wireless headphones to silence any distractions, too!
