Stellantis Response to Frank B. Rhodes is Underwhelming

Last week, Frank B. Rhodes made a proposal to Stellantis, ranting about how he thinks the automotive group is mistreating the Chrysler brand. The true born heir, he claims to have a say in how the company runs things. There was bound to be a response from Stellantis eventually, but like any large company, they’re not going to dignify the squabbles of one man with a large response or matching all his talking points. According to the Stellantis Media PR, this is all the automotive group has to say.

“Stellantis acknowledges the interest in its North American brands and reaffirms the Company’s commitment to its entire portfolio of 14 powerful, iconic brands, which were each given a 10-year timeframe to build a profitable and sustainable business. Like the Jeep® and Ram brands, Chrysler and Dodge are at the forefront of Stellantis’ transformation to clean mobility, benefitting from the Group’s cutting-edge technology and scale. The Company is not pursuing splitting off any of its brands.”

That’s it. Not a single response to any of Rhodes’ points, just a blanket response about the various Stellantis brands. It’s a little funny. Jeep and Ram Truck have always been the front runners of the auto group, or at least they were when Fiat Chrysler was still on its own. Before the Dodge Charger Daytona SRT battery-electric vehicle was revealed, the all-electric Ram Truck 1500 REV was revealed in 2023. Jeep revealed its Wagoneer S two months after the Dodge BEV, so the pattern is starting to change, but not by much.

As we’ve discussed in past articles,  Chrysler admitted to being completely content to being an automaker with a single nameplate. The Halcyon concept for Chrysler keeps popping up here and there, but we haven’t seen much. We just know the automaker claims limitless range and self-driving autonomous technology will be at the forefront of the production model. We’ll see how that pans out. As for Dodge, we know the muscle car automaker is adamant that the new Charger Daytona SRT BEV is the new muscle car, being the first official model of the eMuscle lineup. The Dodge Hornet plug-in hybrid was more like a test run to bring electrified powertrains to the brand, and doesn’t wear the Fratzog logo.

Without specs for the Halcyon, we can only take a look at what Dodge, Ram, and Jeep have to offer. The 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona R/T is said to be able to generate 496 horsepower standard, 670 horsepower when equipped with the standard Stage 2 package from Dodge Direct Connection. As for the 2025 Ram 1500 REV, Ram Truck has set itself up for a strong lead. The 2025 Ram 1500 REV standard setup is powered by a 168-kilowatt-hour (kWh) battery, able to generate up to 654 horsepower and 620 lb-ft of torque, as well as offer a target all-electric range (AER) of up to 350 miles. The Jeep Wagoneer S is powered by a 400-volt electrical system and a single electric motor, able to generate 600 horsepower and 617 lb-ft of torque.
