Engine Type

Six trims make up the lineup for the 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee L – Laredo, Altitude, Limited, Overland, Summit, and Summit Reserve. Most options remain the same, with the choice of two drivetrains – 4×2 and 4×4 – as well as two engine options. The standard powertrain is a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine, capable of generating 290 horsepower and 257 lb-ft of torque. The award-winning 5.7-liter V8, able to generate 357 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque, is also available, but that option may be reserved for the high-end Summit and Summit Reserve trims. Both engines are paired with a TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission.

Driving and Handling

Like usual, Jeep consumers will only find 4×4 systems and capabilities on a Jeep with a 4×4 drivetrain. Like last year, even with a 4×4 drivetrain, the class-leading Selec-Terrain traction management system – with five available terrain modes (Auto, Sport, Rock, Snow, and Mud/Sand – starts to become available on the Limited trim. Throughout the lineup, consumers may find one or all three available 4×4 systems, including Quadra-Trac I, Quadra-Trac II, and Quadra-Drive II with rear electronic limited slip differential (eLSD), along with class-exclusive Quadra-Lift air suspension with semi-active damping. The Overland can add the Off-Road Group for some extra off-road equipment – high-strength steel skid plates, electronic limited slip differential rear axle, 18-inch aluminum wheels and rugged, and all-season performance tires.

Exterior Features

The 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee L still comes with the same great style, and heated mirrors with blind spot indicators, roof rails, and LED exterior lighting come standard. Past the base trim, more features become available, including power Gloss Black heated mirrors with a blind-spot indicator, memory, and supplemental turn signals; automatic high-beam headlamps; premium LED fog lamps; and a new adjustable height power liftgate. For extra style, the available Grand Cherokee L Limited Black and Summit High Altitude packages add black exterior accents, plus 20-inch wheels on the Limited and 21-inch wheels on the Summit trim. 18-inch wheels are the standard, with 20-inch wheels available on select trims.

Interior Features

Standard interior features include a power eight-way driver and manual front-passenger with driver lumbar adjuster, automatic dual-zone automatic temperature controls, 10-inch display screens across the instrument panel, ambient LED lighting, and an all-new leather-wrapped heated steering wheel. Past the Laredo (with cloth upholstery), the dashboard features a 10.25-inch dynamic front passenger touchscreen, and starting on the Limited trim, two 10.1-inch dual rear-seat entertainment touchscreens are available with Amazon Fire TV built-in, leather upholstery, a power eight-way driver seat with memory and power four-way driver/front-passenger lumbar adjuster with memory, and a heated steering wheel. Reserved for the Summit trim are a leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel, new power 16-way adjustable position with memory and lumbar, and a front-row seat massage function that includes five customizable profiles with three levels of pressure intensity for ultimate luxury.

Entertainment

Uconnect 5 returns as the standard infotainment system with an 8.4-inch high-definition touchscreen. For 2024, the Limited and Overland trims now come standard with Uconnect 5 NAV on a 10.1-in. digital touchscreen, originally reserved for the Summit trim. Able to host five user profiles, the Grand Cherokee L comes standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A standalone option only found on the Limited model is a nine-speaker Alpine audio system. The Overland and Summit models can upgrade to a 19-speaker McIntosh audio system. A six-speaker sound system is the standard.

Safety Features and Warranty

Equipped with more than 110 advanced standard and available safety and security features, the 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee L features an advanced multistage front airbag system with supplemental airbags all around the cabin, stability and traction control systems, an enhanced accident response system, a ParkView rear backup camera, and a LATCH-ready child seat anchor system. Increased safety comes from automatic features like Full-speed Collision Warning with active brake and pedestrian/cyclist detection, Rear Cross Path detection, adaptive cruise control, active lane management, lane departure warning, advanced brake assist, Blind-spot Monitoring, and rear park assist sensors, available on select trims.
