Powertrain
The 2023 Dodge Hornet is currently available in two trims ā GT AWD and GT PLUS AWD. Both come with the same powertrain, but the plug-in hybrid part of it seems to be missing. Planned for release is the R/T Hybrid, a combination of a 1.3-liter turbocharged all-aluminum engine, optimized with exclusive third-generation MultiAir technology, and a 15.5-kWh lithium-ion battery pack powering a 90-kW electric motor that can deliver 184 lb.-ft. (250 Nm) of torque at 0 rpm.Ā
Driving and Handling
Back when Stellantis was still separate, Fiat Chrysler automobiles (FCA) were working on a new āhybrid-readyā ZF 8HP transmission, but for now, the 2023 Dodge Hornet uses a 9-speed 948TE automatic transmission. The fuel economy for both trims is the same. The 2023 Dodge Hornet has a fuel economy of 21 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway. A dual mode suspension helps to increase response in front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. A Sport Mode comes standard for increased throttle response and control.
