In recent years, Ram has offered the ProMaster Van in a number of configurations, with three levels just like the pickup trucks – 1500, 2500, or 3500. A 1500 model could come with a low roof and a 118-inch wheelbase, or a low or high roof with a 136-inch wheelbase. The 2500 and 3500 models had the choice of a 136-inch wheelbase or a 159-inch wheelbase with a high roof, plus the option of a window van with a high roof and 159-inch wheelbase.
Engine Type
Always ready to power a Ram model, the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine powers the 2022 Ram ProMaster, able to generate up to 280 horsepower. The engine is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. The maximum payload for the Ram ProMaster is 4680 pounds, and has a maximum towing capacity of 6910 pounds.

Exterior Features
Although available as Cutaways and Chassis Cab models in recent years, the cargo vans with a cabin are where the real features lie. Cargo and window vans come with a sliding passenger side door without glass and rear-hinged doors with a 260-degree opening, heated exterior mirrors, and the driver’s sliding door can come with or without window installed. Consumers can also choose to get a fixed side window or delete it altogether. In the past, deep tint sunscreen glass, side doorsteps, and splash guards were available.
The 2022 Ram ProMaster has a Best-in-Class lowest load floor height of 21 inches, Best-in-Class maximum cargo width of 6-foot 3-inches, and Best-in-Class 56-inch width between wheel wells. A lot of “Best-in-class” for this cargo van. Practical and flexible, it rides on 16-inch wheels.
Interior Features
Inside, Ram has changed things up for the interior cabin. Still offering up to 463 cubic-feet of cargo space, the Crew Van offers three versions with 6 feet, 7 feet, or 9 feet of cargo space behind the partition. There is also a cargo area under the rear seat, able to store long items up to about 13 feet. Up front, consumers can get two bucket seats, a bucket driver’s seat with a two-person front-passenger bench, or two swivel seats. With all the different kinds of upfits, these choices can change how a consumer interacts with their van. Cloth upholstery is the standard, and some trims have come with a leather-wrapped steering wheel and heated seats in recent years.
Upfits
Cargo vans are typically used by small and commercial businesses due to their huge customization capabilities. Able to make use of custom interior setups called Upfits, consumers can choose from a variety of options based on their needs. The 2022 Ram ProMaster offers a trades interior upfit, mobile office interior upfit, and delivery interior upfit. Also available, the chassis cab with a platform upfit or a box van upfit, and the cutaway van with a service upfit or a box van upfit.
Package Groups
Lots of package groups were added this year. Consumers can get even more safety with the Advanced Safety Group, adding a Driver Information Digital Cluster with a 7-inch color display, Fog Lamps, Intelligent Speed Assist, LaneSense® Lane Departure Warning with Lane Keep Assist, the Active Driving Assist System, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross Path Detection and the Surround View Camera System.
For a little convenience, the Driver Convenience Group adds a remote Start System, Power/Folding/Heated Mirrors, Fog Lamps, the ParkSense® Front and Rear Park Assist System, and the Surround View Camera System. For even more, the Premium Convenience Group features Remote Proximity Keyless Entry, a wireless charging pad, rain-sensing windshield wipers, a Driver Information Digital Cluster with a 7-inch color display, Automatic Headlamps, Automatic High-Beam Headlamps, Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go, the Uconnect® 5C NAV with 10-inch touchscreen and Ram Connect, and Traffic Sign Recognition.
There is also an R/V Premium Group for those that seek a little adventure. This group adds Remote Proximity Keyless Entry, a wireless charging pad, rain-sensing windshield wipers, a Driver Information Digital Cluster with a 7-inch color display, Automatic Headlamps, Automatic High-Beam Headlamps, Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go, the Uconnect® 5C NAV with 10-inch touchscreen and Ram Connect, Traffic Sign Recognition, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and leather-trimmed swivel bucket seats.

The center console has been completely updated, from left-to-right, starting with a 3.5-inch display or the available digital cluster with a 7-inch display of the instrument cluster; a standard Engine Start/Stop button; available Remote Proximity Keyless Entry; available wireless charging; and a revamped infotainment system. Standard on the 2022 Ram ProMaster is Uconnect 5 which comes with a 7-inch touchscreen. Consumers can upgrade to the available Uconnect® 5C NAV with Ram Connect on an available 10-inch touchscreen on select trims. Dual integrated voice command with Bluetooth and steering-wheel mounted controls are standard.

The 2022 Ram ProMaster has many basic safety features, starting with an advanced front airbag system with side-curtain front airbags, traction, and stability control systems, and remote keyless entry. Select van trims come with Traffic Sign Recognition, Drowsy Driver Detection, LaneSense® Lane Departure Warning with Lane Keep Assist, the Digital Rearview Mirror, a ParkView® Rear Back Up Camera, ParkSense® Front and Rear Park Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Lane Centering, Forward Collision Warning with Active Braking, Pedestrian/Cyclist Emergency Braking, and Intelligent Speed Assist. A Surround View Camera is also available.
